Materials Planner

Job description
Job Purpose
The Materials Planner is responsible for the Supply chain management on site. The role encompasses the responsibility for the managing the output of the Materials Requirements Planning (MRP) and ensure progression of the same for the timely delivery of both raw and packaging materials emanating from both local and import suppliers.
As a key member of the Extended leadership team, the Material Planner is accountable for –

Ensuring that all materials requirements are delivered to ensure continuity of production.
Coordinating and collaborating with channel partners, which can be suppliers, intermediaries, third party service providers, and customers to ensure seamless flow of materials and products.
The purpose of the First Line Leader role is ‘To develop and enable a first touch team of operators to consistently deliver outstanding safety, quality, service and value to the person at the end of our supply chain’. The role has a direct hour by hour impact on the ambition of the GMS Strategy to achieve the three zeros on Accidents, Defects and Waste. It is a key role in ensuring that the business strategy is delivered through an engaged, motivated and capable team of staff.

Essential Job Responsibilities

Fundamentals

Ensure all activities carried out comply to relevant site GMP, EHS guidelines and policies, and relevant legal requirements
Ensure 100% adherence and compliance to the continuous improvement training and ensure 100% adherence and compliance to my Learning training as well.
Ensure appropriate training and development to maximise output and minimise risk in terms of product quality, product loss, waste and occupational health and safety and environment concerns.
Create and enable reinforcement mechanisms and celebrations of success
Responsible for employee relations within the Logistics and supply department and other support units within the business.

Innovate the Business

Develop and manage materials supply plans for the product supply based on customer demand.
Create and manage measurement systems to track adoption/progress, utilization and proficiency of key business value drivers
Provide stretch targets for self and the teams and recalibrate ideas through involved engagement.
Through creation, control, interrogation, management and communication of all aspects of the departmental integrated project plans (schedule, budget, resource, options, assumptions, risk and control for the lifecycle of the projects
Purchasing of raw materials, components and equipment necessary for manufacturing, negotiating for best cost, ordering minimums, lead times, and quality.

Strategic Alignment & Sustainability

Forecasting – Regenerate MRP, Send 12 month Rolling forecast to suppliers ( Import and Local)
Generate full year order for stable demand class A materials and agree supply dates & monitor delivery dates depending on fluctuating demand.
Facilitate timely, accurate reporting – Deficit Report – 3 months & 1 Month, GIT Report, Deficit Reports, MRP Detail Report, Local Packaging OTIF Report
Planning – QAD – Order Processing, MRP messages, Planning Foundations– Panadol, Zantac and Actal from Dungarvan, Monthly TC to confirm deliveries and reallign supply to the flactuating demand, Manage TCs with supply sites and adress issues, Review of parameters for ordering materials, Performance Management – Stand up meeting
Feedback & Support Inventory optimization.
Projects – NPI – Manage depletions advise best options/ write off estimates, Depletions – Artwork Pack Refresh, Support value Engineering, Support Inventory and cost reduction Initiatives & Support Stock Build.
Logistics – Local Packaging JIT call offs, Import Documentation – PFI to IDF
Control Towers – shipping documents, Expedite & dealing with logistics Service providers clearing and forwarding
Stakeholders management – Commercial team, Supply Planning hub ,Demand Team
Finance, Procurement –Clearing agents, ELT, Security

Risk Management

Support the Risk Management process in the logistics and product planning function, and work with other business functions within GMS to ensure potential risks are identified, assessed, prioritized and mitigated.
Work with the commercial team to manage potentials risks associated with the materials depletion as a result of proposed product changes
Work with the NPI lead to ensure continuity of production after product introduction studies have been concluded.
Work with the site project teams to manage supply risks associated with the proposed product, equipment, systems and/ or facility changes.
Work with Cross-functional teams to deliver the Zero Waste, Zero Accident and Zero Quality ambition. Ensure audit readiness in all Logistics and supply and interlinked operations.
Engage cross functional teams to ensure there is a smooth flow of product to the market with/or by challenging all process hiccups within the Supply and logistics function.
Work with the site procurement lead in ensuring the use of approved suppliers.

Qualification/ Experience

First Degree in Procurement, Logistics and Supply or related discipline
Strong understanding of financial requirements of the business
