Responsibilities
Develop a template for the design and layout of TOF magazine in line with the existing design and layout of the current magazine and in line with BvAT Branding Manual (BvAT will provide a sample). The template developed and all rights will be the sole property of BvAT and should not be replicated or used outside BvAT unless with approval of BvAT’s Executive Director. This is a one- off assignment.
Provide design and layout services for each publication every month. The successful applicant/ firm will work in close cooperation with the TOF Project Manager and TOF Editor, using artwork, photos and graphics provided by TOF staff. This task involves:
Description of work
Provide design and layout of each copy of the TOF magazine in close cooperation with the Project Manager and Editor and using artwork, photos and graphics provided by TOF staff.
Work on photographs and other illustrations for layout- including photo editing, scanning and photography as agreed with the Project Manager/ TOF Editor.
Provide such files in pdf form to the printer.
Provide the TOF Manager with a CD-ROM or appropriate media that contains all placed final files, including texts, fonts, logos, pictures and graphics.
Maintain templates (In Design) for TOF and design as may be required.
Assist in establishing and maintaining TOF and MKM photo archives.
Outputs/ Deliverables
Quality design of BvAT’s TOF magazine in line with BvAT’s branding requirements and within specified deadlines.
Monthly print and web versions of TOF magazine in PDF and In Design versions on CD.
Photo archives for TOF and other publications on Biovision intranet folders.
Any other output specified by the Project Manager for each assignment.
Qualification and Expertise
Strong theoretical and practical background in graphic design, including the use of design software such as Adobe Design Premium, In-Design, CorelDraw, web design tools such as Dreamweaver and Flash, etc.
Show a clear and mature style of design, demonstrating an understanding of the communication requirements BvAT.
Proven experience of graphic production from start to published/printed product with knowledge of printing processes (offset and digital) and colour management;
Good understanding of new and evolving technologies and digital platforms;
Knowledge of standard software packages, including MS Office– MS Access–MS Visio –Adobe Acrobat;
Working experience in development or humanitarian environment is desirable.
