Job Description
Duration: On Project-Basis, Project duration varies 2-12 weeks.
Education: Bachelor’s degree related to economics, business, public policy or statistics and related field
Experience: At least 1-2 years of relevant work experience
Language requirements: English and Swahili; other languages are a plus.
Pre-requisites: Experience in collecting quantitative data, data collection experience using Electronic data collection instruments, strong communication skill and team player.

Position Description
Laterite is looking for brilliant and highly-motivated young people to assist with our fieldwork activities in Kenya. The position is based in Nairobi, Kenya. Final location will be finalized depending on place of residence and language ability of applicants. Enumerators will attend Laterite training sessions, conduct surveys, and collect data using pre-designed data collection instrument.
This position is offered on a project-basis. Successful candidates will be added to our database and be contacted based on availability of positions. Enumerators will also benefit from training sessions aimed at improving their professional development.
Profile
Ideal candidates have experience in collecting quantitative data using electronic data collection instruments, ability to ask the questions exactly as they appear in the questionnaire, keep a neutral attitude with the respondents, good understanding and skill of properly managing respondents, interview locations and maintain the pace of interview. And, they have the appropriate skill and methods to implement in the data collection process to maintain high data quality. They are excellent communicators in English and Swahili, have excellent interpersonal skills, team players and are able to effectively solve problems and adapt to changing situations.
They have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree related to economics, business, public policy or statistics and at least 1-2 years of relevant professional experience. They are willing to develop their professional skills and lead the growth of an organization dedicated to social and economic development.
Key Responsibilities

Attend training sessions
Conduct interview using Tablets
Conduct interviews in the field using survey instruments designed by Laterite Ltd
Test questionnaires designed by Laterite Ltd in the field
Travel to different locations to conduct field preparation, contacting local authorities and identifying potential research participants
Document issues that arise during fieldwork and communicate them to the field coordinator and supervisor
Keep track of expenses
Transmit data collected on a daily basis
Assist in any other tasks related to the delivery of the project at hand

Qualifications
Pre-requisites:

Experience in conducting quantitative data collection in Kenya.
Strongly Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Business Admin, Social Science or related field.
Experience in conducting qualitative data collection in Kenya
Excellent verbal and written proficiency in English, Swahili and a local language
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Good computer skills – especially the ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel
Willingness to work in rural areas and on weekends, if required
Willingness to travel for long periods of time, usually up to 30 days
Sharp problem-solving skills
