Store Officer

Job description
The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) seeks to recruit a Stores Officer to ensure constant and proactive service delivery is provided to all customers in line with both the Stores and Transport Management Policies.
Responsibilities

Guide and advice internal as well as external stakeholders on stores management policies, standard operating procedures and ensure compliance through consistent application of the same.
Coordinate the stock takes during internal and external audit, mid and end-year stock-takes
Coordinate unit meetings including the disposal committee meetings and follow up on an action plans with relevant stakeholders to ensure all requests are handled and closed.
Prepare status update reports and any custom reports as required, highlight any concerns and modify processes as appropriate or recommend for consideration any policy changes to supervisor.
Establish and maintain of internal and external relationships to increase efficiency in the unit and improve operational decision making as appropriate.
Plan, direct, and verify stocks to ensure they conform to the specifications as well as ensure their timely and efficient distribution to user departments in support ILRI’s business needs
Maintain safety procedures in inventory and storage areas to ensure they comply/ meet with EOHS standards
Keep a well-maintained organized record keeping/filing system and update all transactions in OCS, updating fuel consumption records both on weekly and monthly basis e.t.c
Generate regular reports, custom and ad hoc as may be required.
Manage inventory management systems to facilitate the management of all the receipts/issues and ensuring proper documentation in the systems.
Review work processes and identify areas of improvement and make recommendations and /or establish innovative or adjust existing work procedures and practices
Support change management at ILRI Stores Unit and Carry out other duties as may be allocated by the Senior Transport and Stores Supervisor.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, or Logistics management
Professional qualifications in Logistics management from the Chartered Institute of Supply Chain management (CIPS) or any other recognized professional body.
Member of CIPS or KISM
At least three years of experience in a similar post.
Experience in using micro soft Computer packages.
Experience in using fleet management system.
Strong organizational skills.
Excellent communicator in both written and spoken English.
Experience in customer service soft skills.
Innovative and analytical skills.
Good intuition to make crucial judgements.
Excellent interpersonal skills

Terms of Appointment
This is a Nationally Recruited Staff (NRS) position based at ILRI’s Nairobi campus. It is open to Kenyan nationals only. The position is on a 3-year contract, renewable subject to satisfactory performance and availability of funding.
Job Level
This position is job level 2D, level 1 and ILRI offers a competitive salary and benefits package which includes; pension, medical and other insurances for ILRI’s Nationally Recruited Staff.
