Summary
The Wikimedia Foundation is looking for an experienced, collaborative, and entrepreneurial Product Manager for emerging markets to help engage and delight new readers of Wikipedia. In this role, you will work with the New Readers program to define product strategy and prototype, test, and build new features for mobile devices.
Product Managers at the Wikimedia Foundation work with researchers, engineers and designers to build features, products and services used by hundreds of millions of people around the world to learn and share knowledge.
As a Product Manager, you will:

Ideate and develop new mobile products to enable the growing mobile population in emerging markets to consume educational information.
Work with a highly talented team of engineers and designers to define, design, and build features that are designed for cheap phones on slow networks, in multiple languages
Understand the needs of users in order to prioritize new features and product enhancements for the development team using qualitative research and an understanding of local nuances in various markets
Release early and often, getting feedback from users to help improve features.
Use both qualitative and quantitative methods to measure the impact of features
Make a difference in the world!

Requirements:

Product Management experience with a mobile app or mobile web property in emerging markets
Experience launching and growing products in emerging markets
Experience working with multilingual products
Experience working in an agile software development environment
Demonstrated understanding of modern mobile technologies and industry trends
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
Passion for participatory (vs. read-only) experiences on the web
Live in time zones GMT to GMT +5:30

Pluses:

Experience editing Wikipedia or contributing to other Wikimedia projects
Experience with open source software development
Familiarity with MediaWiki is a plus
Experience with delivering high quality and user friendly participatory design
Experience working remotely
