Project Overview And Role
ESHE is a Family Planning (FP) project funded with UKAID from the UK Government. It is managed by a consortium of expert partners and agencies led by Palladium. The programme, which is implemented across most parts of Kenya, is designed to respond to the needs of the Government of Kenya (GOK) in reducing unmet need and increasing the contraceptive prevalence rate. ESHE?s results also contribute to the global FP initiative, FP2020. FP is not only a key intervention for improving health but also a key strategy for the achievement of national and international development goals. Identified as a priority component in the Kenyan National Reproductive Health Policy, ESHE facilitates growth of the private FP market by offering specific and targeted support to a network of 487 qualified and registered service providers/facilities across Kenya.
Responsibilities
Drive Project staff members, consultants and other visitors on Project business such as provide transportation to and from the airport, hotel, project sites, and other locations as assigned.
Responsible for the respect of traffic rules according to the country regulation and ensure that all passengers wear seatbelts, including the driver himself.
Record and maintain record of trips including kilometers traveled, fuel consumed and cost, and dates of oil changes, all according to established procedure.
Ensure the day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle such as checking oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, etc.
Pick up and deliver shipments, packages and documents, as assigned.
Arrange for repairs and regularly scheduled maintenance of the vehicle. Obtain price quotes for purchase of parts as requested and perform minor repairs on vehicle as needed.
Ensure that all regulations are following in case of accidents, including reporting incident to the Company and proper authorities and submit required paper work.
Ensure that the vehicle has all required registrations/licensing and inspections, and that necessary documentation is retained with the vehicle.
Ensure vehicle has sufficient amount of fuel, maintain the vehicles? cleanliness, and ensure its security for daily use and proper evening and weekend storage at office site.
Maintain all safety equipment in the vehicle such as first aid, spare tire, and repair equipment, as specified in the Project Operations Manual.
Be aware of security at each point of drop off or pick up and keep staff safe during journey.
Carry out/perform any other duties assigned or requested by the Finance and Administration Manager, and Senior Operations and Finance Manager.
Duration
The position is for an initial period of 12 months starting January 2018 to December 2018.
Requirements
Kenya Secondary School Education level.
Minimum five years accident free driving experience in an office environment.
Motor vehicle mechanical repair a distinct advantage.
Working experience with International organizations is an added advantage
Fluent in both written and spoken English and Kiswahili.
Valid Driving License and certificate of good conduct
Tact, politeness, courtesy and ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with people of different national and cultural background.
Ability to operate modern PC-based electronic communications systems.
Experience of working in Garissa, Samburu, West Pokot, Turkana and Eldoret is required
