The Accountant will work under the Accounting Manager in Kenya. This will be a permanent role that will involve, accounting, reporting and analysis as well ensuring adherence to internal controls and statutory compliance.
Key Responsibilities

The Accountant will be required to assist in preparation of final financial reports, financial analysis, developing and designing of new KPIs and reconciliation templates and ensure all the reports are updated and sent out on time.
Prepare necessary paperwork and makes tax payments and returns
Complete quarterly and annual tax reports
Recommend tax strategies that align with company goals
Organize, prepare and lodge required forms and annual returns with Companies Houses
Maintain statutory books, including registers of members, directors and secretaries
Manage company share option schemes, share issues, mergers and takeovers
Maintain the register of shareholders and monitor changes in share ownership of the company
Prepare and enter all journal entries for month end close as well as final accounts
Develop and oversee the systems that ensure the company complies with all applicable codes, in addition to its legal and statutory requirements
Prepare assigned balance sheet account reconciliations for multiple legal entities.
Assists with all aspects of the consolidation and close process.
Assist in the production of daily, weekly, monthly reconciliations for each country covering Disbursements, Repayments and Net cash, third party contracts such as M-pesa, Vodafone, Cellulant
Assist in monthly Bank Reconciliations for multiple bank accounts
Assist with completion of the monthly, quarterly and annual statutory and regulatory filings for all countries
Assist in providing documentation for the year-end audit and tax work by auditors or other external consultants
Monitor changes in relevant legislation and the regulatory environment and take appropriate action liaise with external regulators and advisers, such as lawyers and auditors

Conform with and abide by all regulatory guidance and internal policies & procedures.
Document policies, procedures and workflow for assigned areas of responsibility.
Contribute to department and organization special projects as assigned.

Does this sound like you?

Bachelor’s degree in Finance related areas and a CPS qualification
More than 3 years of solid Accounting experience preferably handling more than 2 countries. Practical experience in Tax and Secretarial services preferred
Experience working with accounting software, NetSuite, QuickBooks, Pastel, Sage, Oracle
Highly analytical with high proficiency in MS Excel
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Self-motivated, Creative and a Self-Initiator, Super Organized & Results focused
Able to work with short timelines on deliverables and multiple request at a time
Comfortable with Start-up environment; Aggressive goals and targets, Open company culture, Flat company structure and strong Team spirit
