Job description
PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Application Engineer provides a high standard application support in hydraulics products, systems and subsystems mainly in East and West Africa region to drive growth in all focus market segments.
Interacts with customers to ascertain their technical requirements and surveys FC and PMC needs on equipment and creates a bill of material for these.
Provides training to customers and end users based on customer specific requirements.
Provides technical and product support to end users, sales team and customers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Drives the overall platform strategy to meet performance expectations and requirements. Creation of product presentations
Provides technical input to sales proposals based on customer needs and expectations, ensuring these match Eaton’s capability and offerings.
Translates customer drawings, specifications and written requests into Eaton products / systems. Reviews industry and customer specifications for compliance.
Advises and influences customers, creating and developing opportunities for Eaton
Builds close relationships with key personnel within key customers to enhance long term business prospects. Has credibility with customer and in industry market place.
Collects customer intelligence and monitors competitive market data. Identifies opportunities for new and extension business in short and longer term by recognizing and documenting market trends, development trends, and accurate knowledge of the competition products and the specific situation on the customer side.
Plans, organizes and manages projects to completion on time. Works with other Eaton divisions to maximize corporate sales opportunities. Close collaboration with the sales, product management and engineering departments to support all activities to increase sales, customer satisfaction and long-term relationship.
Uses the respective EATON-CRM, currently C360 for the administration of corporate data, for the documentation of activities, for the production of “Sales Leads” and for explaining the activity history with the customers
Coordinates and organizes project activities across multiple departments.
Conducts internal and external training and ensures training documents are updated.
Responsible for generating monthly reports and visit reports

Desired Skills and Experience

Specialized technical education and experience in Fluid Connectors and Hydraulics to apply products to a variety of customer requirements
Recognized Mechanical Engineering Diploma or Mechanical Trade (preferably Hydraulic Fitter)
A minimum of three years’ experience with hydraulic systems, components and training.
Strong communication skills to influence and motivate technicians to achieve growth goals.
Innovative, able to develop new concepts and implement them.
Basic knowledge of applicable local laws including commercial and contract laws
Knowledge of Bills of Material, Pricing and Contracts
Fluent English language skills, additional languages an advantage
Broad range of computer skills for Microsoft applications
