Main tasks and responsibilities:
•The Driver shall be responsible for driving the project personnel to and from the project sites. In addition, the incumbent will:
o Receive visitors of the project at the airport and drive them to various destinations while they are in Kenya undertaking project related assignments and escort them to the airport during their departure as advised from time to time by the Chief Accountant;
o Ensure proper maintenance of the project vehicles ranging from road-worthiness, tire pressure and cleanliness;
o Drive safely and in a defensive style, abide by the traffic laws at all times;
o Advise the Chief Accountant of any mechanical and electrical problems that need to be fixed and liaise with the Chief Accountant on service and maintenance of the vehicles;
o Ensure road licenses, insurances and driving license are up to date;
•Facilitate planned maintenance, routine services and minor repairs of the vehicles
•Carrying out inspections of completed repairs to ensure that the vehicles are safe to be driven.
•Complete administrative reports on any mechanical work performed for all vehicles
•Assist the Procurement Officer in procuring of parts from suppliers
•Maintain a log book on the mileage, fuel consumption and maintenance of the vehicle and the mileage and time driven for each project, and frequently give updates to the Chief Accountant;
o Collaborate with the administration in rational use of the project vehicles and in the daily planning; o Assist with other clerical work assigned by the Chief Accountant from time to time.
Specific Requirements:Formal Education:
O’ Level or equivalent
Clean Driving license. Certificate of motor vehicle mechanic grade II
Minimum 5 years experience in vehicle driving and mechanics. Well versed and conversant with the roads and traffic patterns in Mombasa and its environs
Good communication skills in English and Kiswahili
