Agriculture Specialist, Program Support

Project Summary: 
The project objective is to evaluate the performance and progress of the USAID/Kenya and East Africa (KEA) Kenya Feed the Future Innovation Engine (KIE) program. The KIE activity aimed to bring new and innovative technologies in horticulture, dairy, maize and staple food crop to market through identifying, incubating and scaling innovative agriculture value chain, private sector led businesses. The purpose of the evaluation is to assess the project’s design, in order to inform relevant future designs for innovation activities.
Position Summary:
The Agriculture Specialist will contribute to the evaluation from a technical perspective, including examining whether the technologies promoted are viable and scalable along the agriculture value chain. In collaboration with the Team Leader, he/she will contribute to the development of the evaluation methodology, develop the data collection instruments and protocols, assist in overseeing the survey firm during the survey data collection, conduct data collection & analysis, and contribute towards the final report.
Responsibilities:

Contribute to the development of the evaluation methodology.
Develop the data collection instruments and protocols.
Assist in overseeing the survey firm during the survey data collection.
Conduct data collection and analysis.
Contribute to the writing of the final evaluation report.
Other duties, as assigned by the Team Leader.
Qualifications:
Master’s in Agriculture related field.
Minimum of 7 years’ experience in demonstrated success in agriculture extension, research, or program management.
Experience in BDS markets serving agricultural value chains in Kenya, East Africa, and/or countries with socio-economic and market settings similar to that found in Kenya.
Experience in animal and crop husbandry.
Experience in conducting value chain assessments and determining appropriate interventions to enhance agricultural productivity and market access for the rural poor.
Experience in farm level production cost and profit analysis desired.
