The Imports Officer will coordinate all import shipments and liaise with the supplier for pre-shipments. inspection and make sure all required documentation is in place before arrival of shipment.
The specific duties will include:
Source and negotiate for the best rates for freight, clearance, shipment and select right clearing agents/freight forwarder.
Ensure correct clearing procedures and standards are applied as per the Government of Kenya regulatory requirements
Assist in managing and following up clearing agents on quick clearance of consignments
Generate purchase orders, GRN’s for importation costs incurred in accordance with stipulated policies and procedures
Monitor and co-ordinate consignments from point of origin to point of discharge
Ensure all permits from the relevant regulatory authorities such as PPB, NCK, KMLTTB, KEBS inspection bodies have been applied and approved to facilitate smooth clearance
Ensure registration of clinical items are done with relevant authorities where required
Requirements Applicants should have a Bachelor of Commerce or Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management. S/he should have a minimum of 3 years’ relevant imports experience. The ideal candidate should understand concepts, practices and procedure in import and export activities for air and sea freight including cargo tracing and shipment documentation. Knowledge in Kenyan importation laws / regulation is mandatory. Candidate should be having excellent inter-personal and communication skills, ability to work in a team environment, good negotiation skills and have attention to detail.
