BDM Job Responsibilities
Conduct market research to obtain information that will inform the company board’s decision on what products and services the company is in a unique position to profitably supply.
Based on market research conducted, develop in conjunction with the company board ,a 5 year strategic and business plan which articulates the investment and business development goals as and which focuses on, among other things, a growth strategy focused both on financial gain and customer satisfaction.
Develop and Implement costed tactical plans and strategies that promote market opportunities of product outputs and services to ensure/maintain steady generation of profits from the company in line with the investment and business development goals as set out in the Corporation’s Strategic Plan.
Conduct research to identify new markets and customer needs and recommend for the approval of the company board, investments or business development projects and initiatives which the company can engage in.
Based on market research, plan and prepare business presentations to pitch to prospective clients, negotiate and close business deals.
Create and utilize multiple communication streams (conventional and social media) to create awareness to external publics on the company’s products and services of the company business.
Advice the company board on hiring and management of staff who will be critical to the growth and delivery of the company’s goals.
Provide monthly management reports on the status and future outlook of existing investments and business developments held by the Company from time to time.
Any other role that the company board will deem fit to enable achievement of the company’s objectives.
Qualifications for the BDM Job
Hold a bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Business administration, Accounting, finance, Economics,
Project Management, Marketing, or a related field
Proven success in leading Business development programs, including sales, cost analysis consumer analysis skills, contracting deals.
A strong sales background and a best understanding of the local business context
Marketing skills: ability to pitch your company and its products to clients is important for this role
Possession of critical thinking skills
Ability work under extremely pressured condition and produce required results
Ability to meet targets and deadlines
Ability to approach work with a high level of professionalism
Result driven individual with the ability to manage stress effectively
Possess strong project management skills
Time management skills; and the ability to prioritize tasks
Effective presentation skills: ability to make presentations that will trigger sales and business relationships
Excellent communication skills to be able to interact both verbally and in writing with employees, staff, and management without being misunderstood
IT complaint: proficiency in working with the computer and CRM software
Highly enthusiastic and motivated, with the ability to motivate members of a team
Ability to pay attention to details and adhere to instructions from superiors
Possess flexibility in scheduling tasks, and the ability to multi-task without running into errors.
The position is initially for a period of one year subject to a 5 month probation period (with possibility of extension based on performance) and is based in Nairobi.
