SQL Server DBA

The Opportunity: We are currently looking for a SQL Server DBA to be based in our office in Nairobi, Kenya.
This is a great opportunity for a talented DBA to work in a fast paced and dynamic international environment and join an organisation that’s at the start of implementing its new global strategy and focusing on reaching the most deprived children globally.
In this role you will be responsible for the database performance, back-ups and data security.  You’ll be responsible for overall operational quality and be the SME/ advisor to the wider development and infrastructure teams on all matters related to the SQL server.
There is a large BI development in progress, built on the SQL server stack; this is run by the BI Architects, but you can expect to deputise for them on occasion – particularly in relation to operational issues
To be successful you’ll bring:
Significant experience of tuning and optimising high throughput workloads in an enterprise grade SQL server systems running on SQL 2008 or later version
Excellent knowledge of backup and restore capabilities of SQL server
Strong knowledge of windows operating system and its relation to SQL server
Experience of communicating technical issues to a multi-cultural, multi-functional audience
Knowledge of how SQL server BI stack interacts with database engine instances using ETL
It would be highly desirable if you had knowledge of SQL Server BI and ETL processes (SSAS, SSRS, SSIS)
On a personal level you’ll have exceptional planning and organisational skills, excellent communication skills, a proactive and collaborative approach and strong cultural awareness.
