Executive Director

Purpose of the position: The Executive Director provides overall direction, leadership and guidance to ensure: a) achievement of the organization’s mission vision, goal and strategic results; b) strong internal programming and financial systems in place, and c) ensures organizational growth and expansion of the MTG programme to all 6 counties of the Coastal Region as per the Strategic Plan
The Executive Director provides overall programme and operational oversight to the organization for effective program delivery, and supports the MTG Board in their oversight functions. The Executive Director provides and promotes organizational visibility and is responsible for resource mobilization, financial management and systems development for the organization.
MAIN AND ON GOING TASKS 1. Leadership and Management
Provide management and leadership to implement and achieve the vision, goal and strategic results of the organizations
Lead, coach, develop, and retain MTG’s high-performance senior management team
Ensure ongoing local programmatic excellence, rigorous program evaluation, and consistent quality of finance and administration, fundraising, communications, and systems; recommend timelines and resources needed to achieve the strategic goals.
Ensure fiscal responsibility and compliance with financial regulations by the organization
Ensure effective systems to track scaling progress, and regularly evaluate program components, to measure successes that can be effectively communicated to the board, funders, and other constituents.
Actively engage and energize MTG volunteers, board members, event committees, alumni, partnering organizations, and funders.
Develop, maintain, and support a strong Board of Directors; serve as ex-officio of each committee; seek and build board involvement with strategic direction for the organization.
2. Resource Mobilization and Communication
Oversee the development and implementation of an organisational sustainability plan that ensures diversity of sources of income and harnesses human and other resources to attract funding for the organization.
Maintain and manage donor relationship
Deepen and refine all aspects of communications—from web presence to external relations with the goal of creating a stronger brand.
Build, strengthen and maintain effective and strategic partnerships at all levels and with a range of stakeholders – government, civil society, academic, donors, private sector
Represent the organization nationally and internationally on available platforms to ensure the organization attains visibility for effective impact
Align the organization to County, National, Regional and International strategies being implemented that align to MTG goals and objectives
Use external presence and relationships to garner new opportunities.
3. Administration
Oversee the day to day operations of the organisation
Oversee and coordinate the activities and work of the departments and staff ensuring strict adherence to policy, plans and budgets.
Ensure effectively implemented as per the Constitution, the Strategic Plan, Annual plans and budgets and aligned with the organisations vision, mission and values.
Ensure the organization invests in its human resource by staff capacity development, goal setting, high quality evaluation and performance monitoring.
Enforce financial systems and provide oversight on usage of organizational funds
Assessment and Selection Criteria
The applicants will be judged on the basis of the following: • An undergraduate degree in Arts or Social Sciences • At least five years experience of increasing responsibility in relevant work. • Demonstrated experience in human rights; specific expertise on gender issues. • Candidates must be fluent in spoken and written English and Kiswahili • A post graduate degree will be an added advantage.
