The Accountant will be responsible for directing, controlling and co-coordinating both routine and non-routine accountancy matters and interpretation of financial policies as well as advising on financial policies and ensuring that sound accounting principles are applied to all financial transactions in the organization.
Accountant Job Responsibilities
Analyzing and investigating annual and monthly financial accounts.
Handling of petty cash for daily expenditures for the ministry and keeping accurate records and receipts for the same
Keeping accurate records and reports of income to cornerstone through merchandise purchases, sale of farm produce, disposal of items and any other monies coming to cornerstone
Undertaking financial administration, controlling income and expenditure
Preparing reports, budgets, business plans commentaries and financial statements and sharing during ministry budgeting meetings
Prepare and conduct budget training to relevant staff at cornerstone and administering payrolls,
Carry out monthly budget review meetings with HODs with a view to ensuring working within budget limits and prudent use of resources
Negotiating business terms with suppliers, contractors, laborers and associated organizations,
In consultation with the facilities manager and administrative assistant, assess, determine and advice on hiring and management of casual labor.
Ensuring compliance with the government agencies by submitting all relevant returns as well as administering all statutory deductions.
Solicit for and inspect quotations in collaboration with the user Head of Department
General stores management including authorizing, receiving and counter checking purchases, including kitchen stores
Work in close collaboration with the accounts office at Naomi’s Village for overall financial management of the two organizations as one Ministry.
Carry out any other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

Requirements for the Accountant Job
Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, or Business Management specializing in Finance or Accounting or any other related field from a recognized institution;
Have attained full accounting qualifications (CPA K, ACCA) or equivalent qualification;
Have at least five (5) years’ relevant work experience.
Be proficient in Financial management based computer application skills;
Have demonstrated a high degree in work ethics and competencies.
