Job DescriptionReuters is looking for an experienced, all-round correspondent to head up its editorial operations in east africa. The Nairobi bureau chief position is one of the most exciting and challenging positions in Reuters, covering everything from the fast-growing frontier economies of Kenya and Uganda to the anarchy of Somalia and South Sudan, where the UN is accusing rebels and government forces of ethnic cleansing in a brutal civil war.The successful candidate will need to be adept at handling everything from monetary policy announcements from regional central banks to deeply reported, investigative stories on politics, economics and business. Besides managing a multimedia team of local and international staff in Nairobi, the bureau chief also oversees a network of stringers across east africa, where governments are routinely aggressive towards the foreign media.RequirementsMinimum of seven years as a journalist, preferably with considerable experience in emerging markets and hostile environments.French Language Skills Helpful But Not Essential.Experience covering companies will also be helpful.Thomson Reuters provides professionals with the intelligence, technology and human expertise they need to find trusted answers.
