Role Summary: The Communications Officer, supports the Director, Partnerships and Learning in aggregating, packaging, and tailoring information gathered through AECF Ltd.’s grant-making activities, and disseminating it to stakeholders with the aim of establishing AECF Ltd. as a thought leader in African agribusiness innovation and development.
Tasks Description
Develop communications products, and manage content for the AECF Ltd.’s website and social media. The position holder will lead efforts in developing clear and powerful advocacy messages, products, and processes tailored to target audiences at country, regional, and global levels. S/he will work closely with key staff in the AECF Ltd.’s Strategy, Partnerships and Learning unit as well as with AGRA Communications Unit. aggregating, packaging, and tailoring information gathered through AGRA’s grantmaking activities, and disseminating it to stakeholders with the aim of establishing AGRA as a thought leader in African agriculture

The performance of this role holder will be assessed on the basis of the achievements made on: Preparing information for advocacy;
Disseminating information to AECF Ltd.’s stakeholders for purposes of convening actors for partnership, scaling models and mobilizing resources.

Key Responsibilities of the Communications Officer
Work with the Director, Partnerships and Learning in consultation with the CEO, to identify interests and information needs of AECF Ltd.’s target stakeholder groups for the purposes of scaling demonstrated agribusiness models across the value chain.
Identify information sources in the organization to meet the knowledge requirements of target stakeholders.
Coordinate collection of information / evidence of demonstrated models used across agricultural value chains by AECF Ltd.’s grantees.
Create compelling stories that document the models demonstrated by AECF Ltd, their benefits and their outcomes.
Customize and package these stories to meet stakeholder needs in collaboration with the Donor
Relations and Business Development Officers and their teams.
Promote knowledge sharing in the organization by engaging units, offering training required, and facilitating seamless exchange of information with both internal and external parties
Oversee design, creation, and maintenance of Knowledge Management system, in collaboration with the ICT team.
Support creation of AECF Ltd.’s grantee success stories and documents detailing evidence of successful models, in collaboration with the Donor Relations and Business Development Officers and their teams.
Work with contracted/outsourced technical experts to develop and disseminate regular publications and white papers on topics of interest in the agribusiness sector with the aim of attracting potential partners for AECF Ltd and increasing AECF’s voice in critical discussions on African agribusiness innovation and development.
Perform other relevant duties as required by the Director, Partnerships and Learning.

Academic and Professional Qualifications
A Masters degree in Business, International Relations, information management, media and communications, journalism, Development Studies, or related field;
Knowledge and experience in training and report preparation;
Any additional professional qualifications in Knowledge management.
Relevant Experience
Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in advocacy reporting and communication;
At least three (3) years’ senior-level management experience in advocacy or public relations with exposure to approaches and methods for stakeholder mapping, assessment and targeting;
Experience in planning and coordinating major public events;
Significant experience in development-related activities in Africa;
A working knowledge of French will be an advantage.
