Service and Planning Analyst

OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION
Regional Bureau Nairobi (RBN) and Service Model (SM) team agreed to develop joint initiatives on the below four main areas:

Integrated Corridor Management;
Programme Services;
Regional Emergency Preparedness;
Client’s Services Delivery to the UN.

Two of the main deliverables of the joint initiatives are

To design and develop a modular, comprehensive and customer-focused Service Portfolio, which includes a list of service/service components used in the Integrated Corridor Management (ICM) and the other areas, with standardised service management, service structure and definitions, and costing;
To propose a Standardised Planning methodology based on service demand.

In order to achieve those deliverables, the RBN & SM are looking for a Service & Planning Analyst to support with the development of the identified joint initiatives from December 2018 to February 2019.
GENERAL FUNCTIONS
Role objective:
More specifically, expected deliverables for the role by February 2019 are the following:

Support the further development of the Service Portfolio model and framework according to the various joint initiatives;
Support the further identification and definition of services and their structure;
Support the definition of the service planning methodology; d) creating the prototype service planning solution (tool).

The Analyst will work in strict coordination with business experts and involved stakeholders under the guidance and supervision of the Service Portfolio/Service Planning Work stream Leader, to whom the Analyst will report to.
Accountabilities:

The Service Business Analyst will be responsible for the following activities:
Contribute to the identification and definition of services by applying the Service Model concepts and methodology;
Contribute to the design and development of the Service Planning methodology & framework per identified services;
Develop and create the prototype planning solution (excel-based prototype tool);
Contribute to the development of concept papers and business requirements documents for the Service Planning work-stream;
Perform any other duties requested by the Service Portfolio/Planning work-stream leader.The expected results of the Service Business Analyst are listed below:

Concept papers and business requirements documents for the Service Portfolio work-stream, on needed topics: service structure, service provider & customer model, service/Service Portfolio Integration in the PoC; service planning methodology & framework;
Effective information management and communication established among managers, and visibility for the joint initiatives throughout the stakeholders.

The Service Business Analyst will be responsible for the following activities:

Project reporting:

This position reports to the Service Portfolio/Service Planning Workstream Leader

Team management:

This position does not have team management responsibilities

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
Education:

Master’s degree in International Relations, Social Sciences, Business Management or any other related fields; or the equivalent combination of education and experience..
Work experience:
Minimum of 2 years of demonstrable relevant Corporate Social Responsibility experience and/or minimum of 2 years of demonstrable relevant Humanitarian Aid experience.

Geographical experience:
Minimum of 2 years of experience in Africa (essential).
Languages:
Fluency in English is essential.
Key competencies:

Previous work experience in humanitarian or reporting/communications-related fields desirable.
Knowledge of other UN languages is also appreciated.
Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure as part of a team
Good communication skills and excellent written and analytical skills
Understanding of client’s modus operandi and business processes
Good research and learning capacity; sound knowledge of Microsoft package (PowerPoint, Publisher, and other related software) and strong knowledge of Excel and Visual Basic.
