The Job:
We are seeking to fill the position of Group Head of HR who will develop and implement human resource strategies and work practices that enhance organizational capacity and capability, ensure that the organization has optimal numbers of human resources that it requires to deliver its goals and that such staff are delivering to the required standards while promoting a positive work culture.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement HR strategies and plans that reflect evolving business and staff needs
Develop, implement and communicate HR management policies and procedures, train managers on their application and revise them as necessary.
Drive the change management process that is currently underway at the respective individual companies through the provision of technical and advisory support to the management team.
Co-ordinate the performance management process and all related functions including staff appraisal, training planning and implementation and incentive schemes.
Put in place and regularly review career development and succession plans that address the current and future business requirements of the organization.
Manage industrial relations and offer guidance to managers and supervisors on labour laws and related market practices so as to ensure a harmonious work environment.
Coordinate and monitor all HR activities including the community relations program, welfare and disciplinary matters across the company.
Oversee the recruitment of staff and ensure that new employees are properly inducted.
Handle staff grievances in a prompt, conscientious manner while paying heed to the company’s business needs and policies.
Put in place effective communication systems and channels that promote timely flow of information between and among managers, supervisors and staff.
Continually review and update the terms and conditions of service of employees and ensure that these are communicated to all staff
Continually review pay and reward systems that are in place within the company so as to ensure that these remain competitive and affordable.
Keep abreast of HR management best practice in both the local and international Human resources management field and recommend changes to the EXCO & Board of relevant HR practices to embrace development in the field.
Provide leadership to the HR team and manage their performance.
Qualifications and Experience:
Masters degree in Human Resources or related disciplines
Member of IHRM
At least five years experience in a similar position.
Change management experience
Excellent leadership skills
Solid expertise of industrial relations management and experience of working in labour intensive environments.
Sound knowledge of labour laws and their application.
Strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills
