JOB PURPOSE
The main purpose of this role is to support data analytics strategies across the Group by developing and providing business intelligence solutions. The job holder should be able to use analytical skills to monitor key performance indicators and provide actionable data for the Groups business strategies.
KEY PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Use of data to determine market and business trends to increase profits and efficiencies within Group entities
Gather data through a variety of ways, from mining Group data, as well as looking at competitor analysis / industry trends to help identify areas of improvement and cost reduction
Analysing data to determining past trends and current situation within the Group and industry, and communicating those trends to Management in a timely manner, highlighting their relative importance and impact to the business
Report on findings and propose strategies to enhance business profitability and efficiency
Collaborating with end users to identify needs and opportunities for improved data management and analysis.
Consulting with end users / Management on business needs, translating business needs into analytics/ reporting requirements
Creation of dashboards for presentation of accurate information to Management at different levels and locations
Developing, packaging and delivering new service offerings related to business intelligence, encompassing clearly defined value propositions and creating realistic profitability models
Overseeing development of an enterprise data warehouse as part of Group wide digital transformation strategy
Improving and streamlining processes regarding data flow and data quality to improve information confidentiality, integrity and availability
Overseeing the ongoing development and operations of a business intelligence architecture that enables fact-based decision-making and ad hoc analysis and insight generation
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a Business related field.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION
Relevant professional qualification from a recognized institution.
SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES
Proficiency in IBM Cognos and Oracle Business Intelligence. Other platforms an added advantage
Proficiency in SQL
Technical Skills: use of BI tools to mine data sources and look for trends
Strong Analytical Skills: determining what data trends mean. Being able to analyze the data is crucial
Communication Skills: Communicate their findings to the company and/or managers
Problem-solving: Recommend solutions for creating more revenue and reducing loss
Time Management: work on large projects with many data streams and many deadlines. Being able to time manage is crucial.
