Construction Practices Consultant

Duties and Responsibilities

Lead the development and implementation of construction-focused initiatives related to introduction of new construction practices and/or materials.
Serve as a technical expert in construction practices for internal and external stakeholders
Identify and support partnerships with market actors for testing and application of innovative construction technologies and practices to better serve low-income households.
Conduct initial sector-specific assessments and make expert technical recommendations for appropriate activities contributing to improved housing practices.
Identify and evaluate new and appropriate construction technologies and practices that can be piloted for scale.
Serve as a construction technical expert related to global and regional learning initiatives including labor, climate, and healthy housing.
Support the collection and synthesizing of data, in partnership with the local and global MEAL team, to develop an increased understanding of construction practices.

Duration: This research will be conducted for four months between 1st April and 30th June 2025.
Consultancy Management: This assignment will be managed by the Construction Practices Manager with support from Snr Specialist, MEAL.
Key qualifications.

Prospective applicant is able to live and work in Kenya
Undergraduate degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, Building economics, architecture or related field.
Minimum five (5) years’ experience in project management or related areas
Experience in market systems development is an added advantage
Working knowledge and experience in sustainability, climate change mitigation and adaptation
Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact with officials at all levels of government and to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in local communities.
Willingness to work in a flexible schedule and to travel even to remote destinations.
