Associate- Banking Financial Services and Insurance

Associates will deliver defined tasks on client assignments typically focused on the technical support to clients and delivered across various Domains. The primary focus of this role is to contribute to the delivery of outstanding quality work on assignments within the approaches and frameworks set out by MSC and to seek guidance if unsure. Associates will build their knowledge and expertise in core areas of MSC’s client delivery work. 

 Detailed Responsibilities

Business Development
Support the development and submission of proposals to generate business 
Co-author thematic publications to be developed from field experiences
Actively engage in Marketing Activities and participate in Digital Media dialogues ((blogs, discussion forums etc).
Professional Development
Conduct “Quality of Delivery”/Feedback assessments after assignment execution in line with the quality control guidelines 
Taking ownership of self-development by acquiring skills, knowledge which adds value to the organization.
Business Execution
Execute specified tasks on assignments with utmost diligence, attention to detail and focus on quality under supervision
Seek guidance from colleagues when unsure
Participate in assignment debrief meetings 
Support the process of report writing and data analysis
Develop linkages with junior staff of the client organization to gather assignment related information/data
Assist in the review of training courses delivered, research papers prepared, curriculum developed and technical assistance provided to clients
Contribute to the development of MSC’s toolkits and other publications.

 Academic/ professional qualifications:

Bachelor or Masters level degree (or higher) in Banking/Business Administration/Accounting/Economics/Sociology or related field
Other relevant professional qualifications in line with areas of specialization
Understanding of products and services of banks/Saccos, VLSA and self help groups 
Experience of working with diverse MSME/SME in different sectors 
Knowledge in credit/operations /Insurance is required 
Private sector development experience is a plus. 
Any experience in WASH, livelihoods, community development and capacity building is plus. 

Experience

Minimum (1-3) years of experience in emerging markets and understanding of financial inclusion/communities and livelihoods.
Experience with financial modelling
Experience with the delivery of technical assistance programmes 
Cost accounting skill and experience will be an added advantage
