Finance Assistant Reliever Finance Intern

The Finance Assistant Reliever reports to the Tushinde Children’s Trust Finance Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

Timely Processing of all organisation’s payments through the various payment modes i.e Cheque, IBank and Mpesa
Uploading of all payments on IBank for approval by signatories
Support the monthly postings and reconciliations of transactions in the Accounting software for Bank,Bulk,Mpesa,Paybill and Savings Account.
Maintain the petty cash , ensure timely replenishment, timely reconciliations by the 10th of the subsequent month
Organising for fixed deposit placement and maintaining the tracking sheet and subsequent documents
Updating the cheques tracking sheet and uploading of cheques and bank slips
Support the Lead Social Worker/ Senior Social Worker/Social Work Manager with calculation of Mpesa cash transfer (family support) for both Mathare and Kiambiu after every end of their financial year.
Lead the preparation and uploading of cash transfer
Support in closure of monthly accounts
Assist in Facilitating monthly payroll payments by the 24th of each month
Update the monthly checklist
Support in allocation of salaries to various donors
Support in preparation of Monthly Reconciliations i.e. Bank Account, Mpesa, Bulk
Ensure filing of soft and hard copy of bank documents
Updating one off donations Google sheets
Preparation of payslips and sharing to staff members
Handling all organisation’s procurement matters.
Preparation of P9 forms
Review monthly uber reconciliations by the 10th of every month
Ensure physical filing of all finance documents (bank documents)
Organise for insurance payments of Assets and WIBA
Maintain Finance shared drives i.e Monthly bank statements, Monthly Mpesa statements, Audited Accounts
Custodian of the Office Mpesa Phone
Custodian of the cheque books
Authorised Bank Agent
Assist the Finance Manager in both the internal and external audit
To work with the Finance Manager and the Director Finance & Operations to develop an effective finance system
Assist with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures
Assist in developing financial standards and ensure that staff are trained on a regular basis.
Ensure that Tushinde Children’s Trust is compliant with all regulatory bodies, including the KRA.
Support the development of budgets for funding proposals and activities in collaboration with other staff, as needed
Support donor reporting to ensure deadlines are met and financial reports are accurate and up-to-date
To perform any other duties requested by the Finance Manager and Director Finance & Operations as needed.

Qualifications and experience

Degree in Finance, accounting or relevant course
CPA section 5/ ACCA training will be an added advantage
Proven experience working in Finance department
Fluent written and spoken English and Kiswahili
Good understanding of MS Office/ G-Suite
Experience in Informal Settlements: Previous experience working with vulnerable families, especially in informal settlements.
Strong Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
Flexibility: Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and a dynamic work environment. Adaptable in a young and growing organisation.
