Consultant – Indirect Taxes Manager – Customs

The holder of this position will ensure that the client and Firm’s expectations are met by delivering high quality services and maintaining high utilization levels.

What you will do

Support on delivery of designated indirect tax engagements/projects, and manage the implementation of agreed deliverables;
Assist in the preparation of proposals/tenders and presentations;
Generating innovative solutions on projects/engagements in collaboration with team members to enhance/renew service offerings to clients;
Assist in developing knowledge of current tax matters across the tax function;
Deliver client service according to relevant Deloitte standards, policies and ethical principles;
Collecting, assimilating and analysing relevant data using standard tools and data visualizations to help surface insights and solutions;
Support in the development of new indirect tax products and market new products;
Carry out tax risk and opportunities reviews;
Preparation of tax opinions, tax advice and proposals;
Building and maintaining relationships with the clients and the Kenya Revenue Authority;
Liaising with Kenya Revenue Authority on various tax and policy matters;
Assisting clients resolve KRA audits;
Preparing objections and appeals to KRA assessments;
Preparing tax publications for clients and writing articles on relevant tax matters; and
Actively build business relationships that generate leads.

Qualifications

A Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Commerce, Economics or Law from a recognised institution.
Professional accounting qualification (CPA/ACCA).
At least three(3) years relevant taxation experience.
Technical expertise in VAT matters.
Knowledge of Customs and excise duty matters will be an added advantage.
Good knowledge of international and national taxation principles.
