Senior Management Accountant

The Senior Management Accountant will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company’s financial records, compliance with tax regulations, and timely financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Reconciliations

Ensure all reconciliations are completed accurately and that the general ledger reflects the true financial position.
Review reconciliations prepared by accountants/accounts assistants and confirm their accuracy.
Escalate unresolved reconciliation issues as necessary, keeping the Finance Manager (FM) informed.

Petty Cash Management

Verify that general ledger balances match M-Pesa statement balances.
Review for unsupported payments and ensure all support documents are auditable and valid.

 Accounts Payables

Confirm that all invoices are booked correctly, avoiding double bookings.
Ensure payables reflect true and auditable amounts.

Stock Management

Conduct checks on bike, phone, and GPS stock to confirm alignment between physical counts and recorded balances.
Help develop and sustain a proper inventory system that will keep a check on operation and ensure out inventory is verifiable.

Taxation

Ensure all taxes are filed accurately and on time, including VAT, WHT, WHVAT, CIT, and Excise Duty.
Review and maintain accurate tax GL balances.
Collaborate with the cash flow analyst to ensure funds are available for timely tax payments.
Provide insights on areas for improved tax compliance.
Take ownership of monthly and annual tax computations

Financial Statements (Working with the Management Accountant)

Coordinate interim and final audits and prepare financial statements in collaboration with supporting staff.
Plan and enforce adherence to deadlines for both Group and local reporting.

Month-End Closing

Support the Finance Manager in meeting strict monthly reporting deadlines.
Ensure accurate and complete trial balances (TBs) for all local entities by the 4th working day of the following month.
Monitor and guide the team in meeting subdivided deadlines for efficient reporting

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
CPA-K qualification or equivalent professional certification.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in accounting roles, with at least 2 years in a supervisory position.
Strong knowledge of Kenyan tax regulations and compliance requirements.
Proficiency in accounting systems, with experience in SAP By Design preferred.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
