Role Overview
As Shukran’s Community Fellow, you will be instrumental in building and nurturing a vibrant community of hospitality and tourism professionals in Kenya. Your role will focus on creating meaningful connections between service workers, hospitality businesses, and tourists while promoting financial empowerment through our platform.
Key Responsibilities
Community Growth & Outreach
Develop and execute strategies to engage with hotels, restaurants, and tour operators across Kenya
Conduct targeted LinkedIn outreach to hospitality industry leaders and decision-makers
Lead discovery calls with potential community members, highlighting the benefits of Shukran’s ecosystem
Create a seamless onboarding experience for new community members, with a focus on both service workers and businesses
Build relationships with hospitality industry associations and tourism boards
Community Engagement
Design and implement engagement programs specifically for the hospitality and tourism sectors
Facilitate knowledge-sharing between experienced service professionals and newcomers
Create opportunities for networking between different segments of the industry
Organize both virtual and in-person meetups for community members
Drive adoption of Shukran’s tipping platform and SACCO services through community initiatives
Event Management
Coordinate industry-specific events such as hospitality excellence workshops
Organize financial literacy sessions in partnership with the SACCO team
Plan networking events that bring together service workers, management, and industry leaders
Facilitate cross-learning opportunities between hotels, restaurants, and tour operators
Marketing & Content
Collaborate with the marketing team to achieve 150+ community signups
Share success stories and testimonials from service workers benefiting from Shukran
Create content that highlights the importance of tipping culture in Kenya
Manage social media engagement for the community
Develop educational content about financial inclusion and wealth building
Innovation & Growth
Identify trends and opportunities within the hospitality sector
Gather community feedback to improve Shukran’s services
Propose monthly themes relevant to seasonal tourism and hospitality trends
Design community merchandise that resonates with the hospitality industry
Desirable Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or related field (Final year students/Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply)
3 months to1 years of experience in sales, marketing, or customer relationship management
Demonstrated leadership experience through academic or extracurricular activities
Proven track record of meeting targets or achieving goals in any capacity
Proficiency in MS Office Suite and CRM systems
Experience with social media management, digital marketing tools or in the hospitality is a plus
