Job Summary
The Project Coordinator coordinate all project activities towards Socioemotional Learning (SEL) in Arid and Semi-Arid areas of Kenya and Uganda. These activities include but are not limited to initiating and steering national and sub-national policy dialogues aimed at improving learning through policy frameworks that support social and emotional development and learning among children in ASAL areas of Kenya and Uganda.
Responsibilities
Ensure seamless running of the project activities.
Ensure that project activities are synchronized and documented
Continuously assess training needs of the stakeholders and arrange for appropriate refresher training as needed.
support in the preparation of dialogue schedules
Involve parents and communities in policy dialogues that address SEL integration in ASAL areas of Kenya and Uganda.
Generate reports including: progress reports & proceedings from policy dialogues engagements
Sensitize key stakeholders and leverage the existing rapport to facilitate their buy-in.
Employ a consultative and inclusive model while convening seminars with stakeholders to tap into their diverse experiences for better local ownership and sustainability.
Plan for and convene quarterly Advisory Board meetings and any other as needed
Take the lead in executing all admin and logistical tasks for the project in consultation with the project lead
Assist the project lead in facilitating the process of developing advocacy and awareness materials.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree – in Education, Psychology, Social work or a related field
A master’s degree in project planning and management, Education, Educational Leadership, or Psychology is desirable
Training in research methodologies is desirable.
Relevant Experience
At least 2 years’ experience coordinating project and/or research studies.
Relevant experience in a school research environment including early child development and learning will be an added advantage.
Flexible – able to work extra hours when needed.
Able to work with communities and respect their cultural setups.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written).
Be computer-literate with proficiency in project management tools and Microsoft Office applications and data management procedures: data cleaning, manipulation, summarization, tables, listings, graphics and report generation.
Demonstrated ability to coordinate and supervise teams in multiple sites.
