MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Drive the implementation of an Africa-wide Resource Acquisition Framework and support all the 11 WWF country offices to develop and implement their resource acquisition plans
Work with the WWF Network Donor Offices to conduct/update market scans for regional and national funding opportunities.
Collect, collate and communicate the latest information on resource acquisition opportunities to Country Offices and Regional Programme teams to help identify strategic opportunities
Provide practical guidance and support to country offices and regional programmes in the design of concepts and proposals
As appropriate, prepare and oversee the creation of high-quality proposals, and grant applications, in alignment with required donor formats and standards, and provide proposal writing capacity for countries as and when it is needed and possible
Secure multi-year and diverse funding to meet country, transboundary landscapes and regional needs.
Support, advise and build capacity in Country Offices on the development and management of Public Sector Partnerships and Corporate Partnerships communities of practice in Africa
Proactively engage with key donors in the development of their investment strategies and programmes for the Africa regions as they relate to WWF’s areas of interest.
Work with the Regional Management Team and Country Teams to develop an integrated strategy that maps out fundraising opportunities and identifies themes attractive to donors, towards raising the required resources for implementation of the Regional and Country Strategies
Provide strategic direction for Regional and Country Office teams to pursue non-traditional funding sources, identifying emerging or untapped high potential donors and new emerging models
Represent WWF in meetings with partners and in Public Sector Partnership related forums
In accordance with WWF International Fundraising and Partnership processes and the Regional and National Strategic Cycles, advise the Regional Director in setting annual grant income projections for Africa
Monitor fundraising performance and adjust strategies to meet or exceed targets.
Required Qualifications.
At least a master’s degree in Environmental/Conservation, Environmental Economics, Sustainable Development, International Development Studies, or a related field of work
At least 10 years of experience of which at least 5 have been in providing leaderships and hands-on engagement in big-ticket fundraising for transformational programs with INGOs
Proven track record of managing internal and external multi-stakeholder processes, including demonstrated experience in multi-dollar and multi-country fundraising, donor relations, communications, project planning, project cycle and portfolio management, and donor stewardship.
