IBM i (iSeries) engineer who manages the troubleshooting and resolution of infrastructure issues based on system architecture, project requirements, and customer expectations. Implements common changes and service requests. Partners with IT leadership on engineering related issues, reporting and strategies.
Core Responsibilities:
Support of all aspects of the organisation’s IBM i estate for International Health.
Provides counsel and advice to management on significant Infrastructure matters, often requiring coordination between teams.
Contributes to the design, engineering and development of IBM i infrastructure solutions for projects and/or work requests for business solutions.
Troubleshoots and resolves infrastructure issues based on system architecture, project requirements, customer expectations, etc.
Responsibilities include contributing to risk assessments, capacity planning, and the diagnosis and correction of application/network problems.
Contact point for vendors in the region.
Monitoring, managing and testing backup and restore jobs and tasks.
Batch monitoring and support.
Implement technical procedures for governance and change management.
Explore new technologies and methodologies that can assist in improving the IT systems to achieve overall business strategies and objectives.
Essential:
Minimum of 3 years experience, working in an Infrastructure IBM i/iSeries role.
Experience of installing and configuring IBM i to defined standards.
Experience of installing PTFs and performing OS upgrades.
Experience of database tuning, memory usage, security, and physical/virtual storage.
Backup and restore strategies across the estate with knowledge of BRMS, MIMIX and Storage Based Replication technologies.
