Duties and Responsibilities
The Assistant Locomotive Drivers will be responsible to the Locomotive Inspectors for driving locomotives both on the main line and shunting in traffic yards. The specific duties will include:
Driving Locomotives on the main line.
Shunting in traffic yards
Observing safety of the train and that of the public
Controlling train speed as per operating procedures
Inspection of train and cargo
Frequent physical look out for the train to ensure that train is following in a proper manner
Requirements
KCSE Certificate Mean Grade of C or its equivalent with a pass in Math, Sciences, English and Kiswahili
Have undertaken and passed Mandatory Locomotive Drivers test
Must be physically fit and ready to undertake a comprehensive eye test
Must have a minimum experience of two years of driving on the mainline and shunting
Must have experience on all classes of locomotives
Diploma in Mechanical or Civil Engineering will be an added advantage
