Supervisor Fertigation

Job description
ROLE PURPOSE:
Responsible for planning, organizing and Supervising irrigation/Fertigation activities viz. daily feeding program, drip/drain samples, feed pH/EC measurement and records and analysis, Tank A&B ratio records, feeding protocols, EC/pH monitoring before planting and in propagation to achieve crop production targets; ensuring all HSE and phyto-sanitary rules and regulations are followed at all times.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Health Safety & Environment
Carry out risk assessment for the areas you are allocating employees and undertake intervention measures to ensure no injury occurs.
Ensure you sign PTW (Permit to work) form and employees are trained to counter any risks and sign incident book at the end of the day.
Ensure KECU retains the KFC certificate for GLOBAL-GAP (Good Agricultural Practices) in the annual internal audit by training all employees under you as required.
Ensure the environment is well kept in and around the PUMP HOUSES and any other area your team members are working.
Phyto-sanitary:
Strictly enforce all the sanitation rules and regulations in all areas the team members are working.
Ensure all staff in the department attends phyto-training and sensitization sessions organized by the phyto department.
FERTIGATION AND CLIMATE MANAGEMENT
Ensure daily planned irrigation is done and reported to the production managers.
Make daily feeding plan based on previous results from the field/crop performance/harvest orders/prevailing weather in consultation with the production manager.
Check the crop performance, identify any nutritional problem and take any corrective action.
Follow up, summarize and monitor solution/tissue results from analysis and sharing with the stakeholders.
Strict supervision and checking fertilizer mixing, recipes in use, and sampling data for drip/drain.
Install Watchdog climate monitoring devices in all production lines and down load data and send to respective line grower.
Sampling of tissue and drip and drain solution, and fertilizers for macro nutrient analysis for CNL lab analysis.
Carry out a graphical analysis of sample results, compare with the ETCU samples and make a clear comparison to easily see deviations. Send the analysis results to all stake holders.Share results of tank ratios and monitor the injector performance.
Technical operations
You will carry out all the technical jobs in the department
You will foster team work with MTN department.
PPT
You will render support to all R&D projects.
Labor Management:
Responsible for managing and controlling the labour assigned to you efficiently by ensuring the set targets for each assigned activity are achieved.
Responsible for maintaining discipline of the staff in the dept. and handling any disciplinary cases arising in liaison with HR dept.
Overall responsible for signing and keeping accurate attendance records of all staff in the dept.
Responsible for signing requisition of tools, PPEs and equipment required by your staff.

Bachelor degree in Agriculture or Horticulture
Crop nutrition and growing conditions (climate)

Critical Experience:
Supervision and training
Maintenance, servicing and repair of Irrigation/Fertigation equipment.
