Reporting to the Manager, Human Resource this position is equivalent to a HR officer role and will be required to ensure HR functional support is provided to all entities of AKU, Kenya.
Associate Human Resource Responsibilities
Support recruitment and selection whilst ensuring that all hiring is in accordance with budget & institutional guidelines;
Assist in addressing employee grievances and support to resolve routine disciplinary cases in accordance with applicable labour laws and AKU policies;
Collate training needs from Performance appraisal forms and training requests received from departments or employees.
Deliver soft skills training sessions
Maintain and update electronic and physical personnel records for all AKU employees
Assist in the periodic review of HR policies in the region
Implement country specific HR policies in the areas of recruitment, compensation, benefits administration, employee relations and training and development
Support to ensure HR activities are in line with organizational requirements for quality, health and safety, legal requirements and environmental policies.
Assist in identifying legal requirements and laws affecting human resources functions and ensure policies, procedures and reporting are in compliance.
Serve as an employee advocate and advisor on HR policy, making appropriate recommendations to the Manager, Human Resources -AKU.
In liaison with the Manager Human Resources, coordinate the performance appraisal, promotions and salary increment processes.
Administer benefit programs as regulated by AKU policy
In liaison with the Manager HR, manage employee relation programs to foster an enabling and positive work environment;
In consultation with the Manager HR – advise Entity Heads/supervisors on HR issues.
Qualifications For the Associate Human Resource Job
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or in Business Administration or equivalent with an advanced Diploma in HR
3 years of relevant work experience
Certified member of IHRM Kenya / Recognized Professional HR Body
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Kiswahili
Excellent computer skills
Excellent knowledge of the Kenyan labour laws
Excellent negotiation skills
Excellent time management skills & ability to complete tasks in a timely fashion
Ability to work under pressure
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
