Roles for the General Manager Job
Sales Role ;
Recruiting, training, coaching and motivating a sales team including Key Account & General Trade managers, Sales Representatives, merchandisers & Foot Soldiers.
Enhancing functional competence across all levels of in-house and distributor teams.
Managing sales targets on an annual, quarterly and monthly basis. •Planning and managing sales resources according to agreed budgets.
Delivering of rewarding incentive programs and motivate exceptional success. •Managing the internal communications and awareness of the company’s direction, mission and objectives. •Ensuring clear and consistent communication between the Sales and Production team to ensure accurate delivery on targets.
Distribution channel management:
Establishing effective route-to-market strategies.
Developing and managing key account relationships.
Coordinating sales distribution by establishing sales territories and goals.
Monitoring actual distribution or movement of a product to the customer.
Advising stockists and distributors on policies and operating procedures to ensure functional effectiveness of the business.
Researching and networking to expand the distribution network into new territories.
Exploring and researching new export markets and the governance parameters related to these to set up new distribution channels.
Management reporting & strategy formulation
Contributing to the formulation of policy and strategy,
Maintaining and enhancing administration and relevant reporting and planning systems.
Providing accurate financial and management information to leadership to enhance decision making and business processes.
Preparing 5-Year Sales Forecasts and working closely with the team to track performance. Pick up major demand concerns & contingencies and share with senior management
Prepare and submit annual departmental budgets for approval of expenditures.
Strategy Development
Developing, coordinating and maintaining marketing, product and brand strategies to meet organizational objectives.
Executing the ATL and BTL strategies.
Identifying new opportunities for growth in relation to existing and new products, segments, geographies etc.
Evaluating customer research, market conditions, competitor data and implementing marketing plan changes as needed.
Marketing Management
Developing and executing an annual marketing plan in conjunction with the sales department and ascertaining project/activity paybacks.
Managing the annual marketing budget.
Identifying and monitoring sales activation activities.
Specifying market requirements for current and future products by conducting market research.
New Product Development
Developing new or enhanced products and services to meet current client needs and to anticipate future needs and future markets.
Defining market requirements for new offerings and developing enhancements to existing offerings based on agreed market segmentation.
Creating sustainable processes for new product development and for the ongoing management of products in order to support the business.
General Manager Job Qualifications
The successful candidate will be energetic, business focused, results driven manager who can work in high pressure and high performance environment.
The role requires a versatile, quick learner and adaptable team player and team developer.
He/she will have at least 7 years’ experience in sales Management
The ideal candidate will possess a bachelors’ degree and professional qualifications in sales and marketing.
Must have a valid driving license and be of unquestionable character with outstanding leadership skills.
Must have good geographical knowledge of Kenya and ready to travel
