Plant Engineer

The successful candidate will be tasked with a duty to effectively and efficiently define, implement and manage plant maintenance strategy in order to meet the business, Health & Safety, Financial and Operational objectives at minimum cost.
S/He Plans, directs, and coordinates activities concerned with design, construction, modification, and maintenance of equipment and machinery in production plant: Establishes standards and policies for pollution control, installation, modification, quality control, testing, operating procedure, inspection, and maintenance of equipment, according to engineering principles and safety regulations.
Plant Engineer Job Responsibilities
Define, propose and monitor the implementation of the Plant Engineering team’s plans and objectives in accordance with the Engineering Policy, Key Principles and the Key Engineering Activities as outlined by the board and management.
Ensure that all the team members are familiar with, and implement Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
Propose and implement work processes, procedures and technical resources related to Plant Engineering.
Establish Mechanical efficiency of each machine and keep daily records of the same for purposes of improving productivity and a weekly report prepared and availed.
Make timely recommendation to the management for machine replacement prompted by the poor performance due to age thereby achieving a “low cost, highly efficient” operation.
Quarterly audit of tools and facilitating for replacement of broken and missing tools
Execute the Maintenance & Improvement in accordance with organizations strategy using consequence driven maintenance as the multi-disciplined approach to proactively maintain / improve the fixed assets and maintenance management
Adopt maintenance excellence vision by striving for the M & I proactive domain
Ensure the team view M & I as an investment in asset reliability and overall plant performance
Ensure that engineering’s expertise are developed through providing training and development programs as well as availing right working tools
Ensure that continuous improvement, networking and sharing information becomes a key pillar of the engineering culture.
Ensure that all proprietary technology is protected by adopting a “careful” relationship with 3rd parties, particularly outsourcing partners.
Propose and monitor Factory Engineering in accordance with the key performance indicators.
Set up Preventive and replacement maintenance programs and update the same periodically depending on the technological changes
Ensure that engineering takes the lead in Good Hygienic Engineering (DGHE).
Maintain History cards for each machine for future decision making. A summary of the report is to be made annually and submitted to management.
Prepare daily and monthly maintenance report and submit the same to the management weekly; daily report to be submitted each Monday at 9.00am and monthly report on 4th of the following month.
Ensure that the needs of the client are fully complied with
Ensure that all utilities (air, water and steam etc) that come in direct contact with products are treated according to accepted criteria for products and processes
Ensure that proper energy management is implemented and monitored
Ensure that engineering drives the energy and environmental management
Initiate and coordinate the implementation of new processes/ technologies with other departments
Drive innovation/ renovation within the factory
Manage all issues relating to engineering
Requirements for the Plant Engineer Job
Degree in engineering, preferably mechanical / electrical / chemical / process engineering.
At least 7 years’ experience in a technical field, with at least 4 years in supervisory experience role
Experience in food manufacturing or consumer goods industry, including Maintenance responsibilities preferred
