An Application Specialist at Pirates is responsible for developing and evaluating products, validating innovations for market viability, and delivering customized solutions to fulfill specific client needs, particularly within industrial bakery, pâtisserie, and chocolate sectors.
What you do
Providing expert technical guidance and support to industrial bakeries and pâtisseries, delivering high-end solutions tailored to their operational needs.
We develop tailored solutions to address customer requirements and facilitate the seamless integration of our products and concepts.
Cultivating enduring and robust client relationships with designated accounts is a key responsibility of this role.
Providing assistance to the R&D Director in the advancement of research initiatives and the creation of innovative products.
Collaborating closely with clients to identify their unique requirements and jointly develop customized solutions.
Spearheading initiatives to implement both existing and new products at clients’ production facilities.
Translate Pirates Group’s New Product Development (NPD) guidelines to align with the Kenyan market, facilitating seamless product launches through hands-on test baking, sample distribution, and targeted training sessions.
Responsibilities include identifying and managing emerging business opportunities while assessing risks to existing portfolios, ensuring alignment with the business development team’s strategic sales objectives.
Collaborating within a multifunctional team alongside our local Technical, Marketing, and Sales departments—or engaging with Pirates’ extensive, diverse global network—you will leverage collaborative working tools and data analytics to drive shared objectives.
Stay informed about current and emerging trends in baking and ingredients, while also maintaining comprehensive knowledge of all Pirates products.
Develop and sustain enduring partnerships with customers while cultivating a robust network of ingredient and equipment specialists both within Pirates and across external collaborations.
What we expect from you
A Bachelor’s degree in food science or a closely related discipline is required.
With a minimum of five years of practical involvement in an industrial bakery environment, candidates should bring substantial operational expertise to the role.
You possess a deep enthusiasm for culinary arts and a steadfast commitment to ethical practices that safeguard the planet and ensure a sustainable future for generations to come.
A comprehensive grasp of pâtisserie automation methodologies, analytical techniques, and new product development (NPD) processes is essential, along with expertise in ingredient selection to craft and enhance nutritious yet flavorful products.
Grasps the principles of food chemistry, including the roles and interactions of ingredients and additives in culinary applications.
Proficiency in utilizing professional software applications, including Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems, spreadsheets, and presentation tools, is required.
Individuals should possess a solid understanding of process and equipment operations, as well as finished goods standards.
Demonstrates a strong commitment to customer satisfaction while possessing keen business development acumen.
Proficient in transforming inventive ideas into compelling, market-ready products while adhering to the constraints and standards of an industrial manufacturing setting.
Analytical capabilities and a proactive approach to problem-solving are essential.
