Senior Faith and Development Coordinator Program Officer – ENRICH

Purpose Of The Position
The position-holder will champion innovative approaches to dealing with interfaith engagement in fragile context. He / She will have experience in project cycle management, relief programming, and an understanding of minimum standards/best practices. A networker, the position holder will actively pursue external engagement to develop audiences for interfaith dialogue. He/she will ensure on-time, on-target implementation and reporting of the Christian Commitments project.
The Senior Faith and Development Coordinator will lead spiritual nurture in World Vision Somalia. He / She will be a mature Christian, who respects denominational and religious diversity who is capable of articulating World Vision’s mission to people of various backgrounds. He/she will have strong organizational skills, capable of coordinating multiple stakeholders, assets and processes to support a vibrant devotional life for staff members.
Strengthened External Engagement for Improved Child Well Being
FiA stories of impact from different sectors developed and disseminated for use with WV entities, and published by communications department;
Database of FiA stories developed;
Relationships built with religious stakeholder to lay foundations for future interfaith dialogue;
Linkages formed with other peacebuilding/interfaith networks to enhance WV’s understanding of best practice and to share our learning;
Lessons learned in sectors regarding FiA, packaged and shared with the wider humanitarian community;
Partnering based on shared values enhanced through orientation and training for WV and partners on WV Vision, mission, core values and integrated focus;
Develop & Implement Appropriate People Capabilities System
Staff spiritual nurture and wellbeing activities implemented for the Christian staff in Nairobi and field locations;
Strengthen staff capacity as Christian development practitioners fostering understanding of staff members’ roles in Christian Aid workers in Islamic context.
Ensure spiritual grounded(ness) is provided in strategic decision-making process (e.g. TEECAP)
Connection of faith in work enhanced (guidance on messaging, linking the themes with current context, etc.);
Capacity of recruiters developed to undertake effective selection of suitable candidates with regard to faith issues;
Quarterly forums/chapels organized to facilitate integration across departments through sharing vision, appreciating teamwork and shared successes;
“Faith through deeds” nurtured among both Christian and Muslim staff members orientation, training and reflections towards “work and service to God”;
Spiritual care provided to all staff members (peer support, counselling and visitations as needed);
Orient new staff to the identity and practice of WV’s identity in Somalia;
Improved, Efficient & Effective Internal Business Process
Technical Approaches developed to integrate interfaith engagement as a cross-cutting issue in all sectors approaches;
Contextualized engagement method (e.g. Information, Education, Communication-IEC- strategy) developed to support sector messaging;
Work with program leads to develop an appropriate staff formation and FiA integration approach.
Project reports meet donor requirements in time, accountability and quality;
FiA stories developed highlighting impact of engaging religious leaders in interventions as a risk mitigation strategy;
Design and deliver FiA training package related to a variety of sectors, including best practices and recommendations for integration
Provide regular, positive, and productive communication with respective donor representatives, the field, and partners regarding the implementation of program activities.
Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience
A minimum Bachelor’s degree in Development studies, Christian theological Studies or a related Social Science.
Demonstrates well-developed interpersonal skills, both verbal and written, as well as negotiation skills
Must be a committed and mature Christian, able to stand above denominational diversities. Able to navigate with maturity and wisdom the interfaith nature of the work, including leading staff, meeting with faith leaders, and articulating World Vision core values.
Must have very good communication skills and should demonstrate experience undertaking implementation through partners.
Demonstrated skills in designing spiritual development programs and resources in various faith/religious and cultural contexts.
Should be a strategic thinker, with proven experience in networking with other stakeholders;
Team player; the ability to work as part of a diverse team to achieve the overall goal;
Proven ability to work in diverse cultural and faith contexts and with people of different faiths
Lead Daily staff devotions and weekly Chapel services.
Experience in the design, management and implementation of projects focused on working with faith actors or integration of cross cutting themes, as well as, the design and facilitation of training events
Working Environment / Conditions
Work environment: Nairobi-based with frequent travel to the field.
Travel: 40% travel to field locations
