Group Financial Controller – Operating Subsidiaries

THE ROLE
This is a Senior Management role reporting to the Group Finance Director.
The position is specifically accountable for ongoing monitoring and reviewing the implementation and effective operation of financial and business controls for operating subsidiaries and carrying out independent business performance reviews aimed at identifying risks to achieving set goals and to safeguarding the subsidiaries’ assets.
The position will involve extensive routine travel to all locations where the Group’s subsidiaries are located.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Group Reporting: review and submission of weekly and monthly subsidiary operational and financial reports to the Group ExCO and providing assurance over financial and operational data integrity.
2. Financial analysis and business performance reviews: carrying out business performance reviews / financial analysis for the subsidiaries and reporting on a monthly basis on arising insights, including risks to meeting investment performance metrics and strategic objectives.
This role includes reviewing performance and cash flow forecasts and budgets and performance against those, identifying and developing insights into key performance drivers, proactively identifying and reporting on adverse trends and identifying and escalating financial risks to the subsidiary management and Group ExCO.
3. Monitoring, Compliance and Controls: providing assurance to Group ExCO that appropriate business and financial control systems and processes have been implemented and are operating effectively in the operating subsidiaries. The FC will be responsible for developing a fit-for-purpose control framework, the related ranking mechanism and the ongoing monitoring of operating effectiveness of controls, identification of control deficiencies and exceptions and the resultant remediation.
4. Leadership: The FC will successfully lead and develop a team of finance professionals to effectively deliver integrated financial solutions to Centum Group and its subsidiaries
EDUCATIONAL & JOB EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
An undergraduate degree in a business-related field;
Accounting qualifications, such as CPA or ACCA. Possession of CFA qualification will be an added advantage
Over 7 years or progressive financial management experience, at least 3 of which should be at a senior management level, directly engaged in business performance reviews, financial analysis and planning, controls design and review and financial reporting;
Previous experience with a Big 4 accounting firm will be an added advantage.
