National Consultant – Systematic Review of Brucellosis in Humans and Animals in Kenya

Within the framework of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Emergency Centre for Transboundary Animal Disease Operations (ECTAD), under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative in Kenya and direct supervision of the ECTAD Kenya Country Team Leader, the consultant will conduct a systematic review of grey and published literature on brucellosis in Kenya to provide frequency estimates of brucellosis in humans, animals and risk factors for infection, and help to understand the current situation in Kenya.
Specifically the consultant will undertake the following tasks:
Review human health surveillance and laboratory data available at the Ministry of Health and affiliate research institutions
Review animal health surveillance and laboratory data available at the Directorate of Veterinary Services and affiliated research institutions
Conduct systematic literature review of brucellosis in Kenya (grey and published literature)
Analyze all information gathered, write and deliver a completion report to FAO, DVS and DM
Minimum Requirements
Advanced University Degree in Veterinary/Medical Science degree or relevant field
Minimum of 5 years’ experience of working on zoonotic diseases in Kenya
Good knowledge of public and animal health systems in Kenya
Good skills in design of cross-sectional surveys, data collection methodologies and analytical skills such as use of statistical software
