Job Description
1. Purpose of the jobTo lead and deliver the SACK-Brooke Integrated Farm Systems & Donkey Welfare pilot project in Homabay and Mt. Elgon efficiently and effectively in line with SAC’s Vision, Mission, Cornerstones and Christian Values.2. Key Responsibilities2.1.     To line-manage and provide leadership to the project implementation team, with the intention of supporting and developing members of the SACK team and partners  for effective projects delivery2.2.    To ensure all SACK project activities at field level are properly planned, adequately resourced and implemented according to agreed timelines to a high standard, in line with Send a Cow’s development approaches.2.3.    Take lead in implementing and coordinating donkey welfare activities of the project. 2.4.     To coordinate trainings and provide coaching and advice to deliver a quality project with timely and efficient budget utilization.2.5.    To clearly identify and agree the project Grant management responsibilities with SAC-K programme funding officer and programme manager2.6.    To build capacity and raise competency and commitment level of the project teams (Peer farmers, Gov extension Agents, etc.] through monitoring programme quality and by coordinating training opportunities and developing mentoring strategies. 2.7.     Ensure use of SACK monitoring and reporting system is including field level visits, reviews process, timely information and practical experience sharing with quality and timely reporting  to all stakeholders in line with SAC’s development strategy and approaches 2.8.    To ensure vertical and horizontal project contacts and relevant networks are developed and maintained with SACK, project beneficiaries, local government and other stakeholders for experience sharing, information exchange, joint project  planning, monitoring and evaluation2.9.    To work closely with  all SACK and partners staff on the reports that they submit and ensure that accurate and complete reports are sent on time to to all relevant parties including the Donor – Brooke East Africa. 2.10.    To play timely and active role as a member of the Management Team (MT) of SAC Kenya in developing policies, plans and Strategic Guidelines and decision making in line with send a Cow’s Values, Mission, Cornerstones and Christian Ethos.2.11.    Undertake other assignments and delegations/assignments given by the Country director  as required 3. RelationshipsReporting to the Programme Manager of SAC Kenya.4. Person SpecificationATTRIBUTES AND SKILLS    Education/QualificationsESSENTIALS•    Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary medicine or related fields from a recognized institution    DESIRABLES•    MA in Rural Social Development with NGO experience in managing community development projects        Experience    ESSENTIALS•    At least three years’ relevant experience project management•    Experience of developing and maintaining effective programme with monitoring and evaluation systems in place.•    Experience of working in programmes promoting animal wellbeing/welfare•    Experience of project proposal and Budget development and effective report writing•    Understanding donor financial  requirements and grant compliance management including expenditure and budget variance monitoring as well as adherence to specific grant condition •    Experience of working with and giving advice to partner organizations and review of project information prepared by partners and providing feedback and follow up•    Experience of developing people through supporting, motivating, coaching and mentoring.•    Experience of organizing and conducting trainings and workshops at different levels•    Experience of learning from practice through programme monitoring, reviewing and evaluating.  •    Licensed and experienced motorcycle rider least 3 years riding experience.    DESIRABLES•    Experience working with donkeys or other working animals experience of grant and institutional fund management•    Experience of policy and strategy development•    Experience of decision making through participatory or collaborative process involving relevant partners/people•    A visionary with ability to see a big picture and prioritize and plan accordingly.•    Experience in generating innovative ideas and putting it into practice.•    Ability to drive vehicle in challenging terrain and conditionsSkills and Abilities    ESSENTIALS•    Team/Servant leadership in a participatory manner •    Ability to establish credibility quickly and maintain supportive relationships with SAC staff, partners and other stakeholders•    High level of interpersonal skills with the ability to work across cultures and religions•    Strong communication and listening skills•    Ability for information generation, situation analysis and timely dissemination•    Ability to organize and conduct training and workshops at different levels•    Good command of written and spoken English and Swahili•    Good presentation skills, verbal and written•    Good level of computer literacy with advanced use of different programmes     DESIRABLES•    Ability to use self-initiative and be proactive•    Strong networking ability to participate at policy level engagements with local government and other development partners•    Understanding of other local languages Dholuo, Luhya and Saboat will be an added advantagePersonal QualitiesESSENTIALS    •    Self-motivated•    Professional, honest and trustworthy•    A team leader, builder and developer•    A positive thinker, Result driven and result oriented•    A creative, innovative and flexible team player with ability to prioritise and manage a busy workload•    An initiator and self-driven actor•    Organized and methodical to work with an eye on details•    Able and willing to travel and spend substantial amount of time in the field as required.DESIRABLES•    Committed to SAC’s Cornerstones and Christian values•    A broad, mature and strategic thinker with an eye on details•    Commitment to SAC’s Christian Values, Cornerstones and development approaches•    Committed to and motivated by the work of Send a Cow
