Data QA/QC Officer – Kenya

About the role

The QA/QC Officer is responsible for ensuring the quality, accuracy, and compliance of all project data throughout the carbon project cycle—from project design through to issuance.

Duties and Responsibilities

Ensure Quality of Project Data:

Oversee data management across the entire project cycle, ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and compliance with required standards.

Database Auditing:

Regularly audit project databases to detect and correct any anomalies. Ensure all data entries are compliant with the standards set by external certification bodies or internal guidelines.

Documentation & Process Validation:

Ensure that all required documents supporting project processes are valid, accessible, and meet necessary standards for verification and validation.

Data Review:

Review project data inputs to ensure accuracy and consistency, avoiding erroneous information that could impact project outcomes.

Internal Report Review:

Audit and review internal project reports for quality and consistency, ensuring compliance with internal standards and external requirements prior to external submission.

SOP Development:

Draft and update internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that guide internal teams on how to work

Collaboration:

Work closely with cross-functional teams, including project managers, and data analysts to maintain high data quality.

Departmental SOP Compliance Auditing:

Audit department SOPs to ensure compliance.

Process Improvement:

Utilize lessons learnt from project reviews to drive continuous process improvements.

Document Management:

Maintain a well-organized document management system for storing and accessing key project data, ensuring documents are up-to-date and readily available for verification and validation purposes.

Skills and Experience

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in economics, Statistics, Actuarial Science or any related field.

Experience:

3+ years of experience in quality assurance, data auditing, process management, or a related role.
Experience working with certification bodies or compliance standards is preferred but not required.

Skills:

Strong attention to detail, with the ability to identify errors, inconsistencies, and anomalies in data not only by following standard checklists but also through logical reasoning and independent analysis.
Proficiency in data analysis.
Ability to draft and refine SOPs based on project and compliance needs.
Strong problem-solving skills, with a focus on process improvement.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work across departments.
