Project Officer – WASH

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop detailed project plans that outline objectives, timelines, resources and activities to improve sanitation practices.
Collaborate with government agencies, NGOs, community leaders, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and support for WASH interventions.
Work closely with communities to raise awareness about the importance of hygiene and sanitation, and to encourage active participation in WASH programs.
Develop and disseminate educational materials and campaigns aimed at promoting behavior changes related to hygiene and sanitation.
Regularly track and assess the progress of WASH interventions, ensuring that activities are on schedule and objectives are being met.
Prepare and submit regular reports to donors, partners, and stakeholders, highlighting progress, challenges, and lessons learned.
Oversee the budget for WASH interventions, ensuring that funds are used effectively and efficiently.
Support the implementation of national and local policies related to WASH and ensure that project activities are aligned with broader policy frameworks.
Advocate for improved hygiene and sanitation standards at the community and government levels, emphasizing the importance of sustained investments in WASH.
Coordinate responses to hygiene and sanitation emergencies, such as disease outbreaks, ensuring that interventions are rapid and effective.
Build and maintain partnerships with other organizations, agencies, and stakeholders involved in WASH initiatives.
Facilitate the exchange of knowledge and best practices between different projects, teams, and partners to enhance the effectiveness of WASH interventions.
Any other duty as assigned by supervisor.

Academic Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelor of Science in Environmental Health/Community Health or related field.
Strong interest in WASH-related issues and community development.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Minimum of 3years experience in community engagement, or fieldwork.
