Head of Culture

Job Purpose & Context:

The Head of Culture reports to the Country Head of Human Resources, Kenya. In this role, they will champion Access Bank Kenya’s culture and employee life cycle initiatives, providing expertise in the areas that support The Access Way. They will work collaboratively with Group and subsidiaries talent, culture, learning and development and business leaders to align the subsidiary with Group’s overall people strategies.

Principal Accountabilities

Function as primary liaison to internal people and culture committees and working /focus groups.
Implement new and enhance existing staff recognition and reward programs in conjunction with business leaders and corporate communications teams
Provide strategic advice to the senior management teams regarding organisational culture, values and workforce planning.
Manage the recruitment, selection, induction, corporate training, and exit processes in liaison with the business leaders
Developing and implementing strategies and programs to promote employee engagement and participation.
Implement and continually improve the Bank’s onboarding and new hire training process, while ensuring employees feel welcomed, aware, and prepared to excel in their roles
Help define and create strategies for the bank’s organizational culture and EVP goals to make Access an employer of choice
Help ensure that Access Bank is an equitable and inclusive workplace where all employees feel valued and can thrive through trainings interventions, coaching, and overall strategy and practice
Continuously build and evolve the bank’s talent development processes including organizational core competencies, goal setting, performance metrics, continuous feedback, coaching, and reviews
Partner with Group L&D stakeholders to identify, develop, manage and implementing training and development opportunities for individuals and teams
Partner with business leadership, HR team members and other stakeholder to understand business needs and then define and implement high impact Talent management strategies accordingly
Drives the annual Talent identification process with enhancing management capabilities to identify high potentials in a quality and timely manner
Develop and drive the subsidiary’s business succession planning process and career path management to engage and retain talent.
To align & implement local & regional talent initiatives, projects and reporting.
Strengthen management’s ability to identify, assess, and develop talents and support talents in the establishment of Individual Development Plans.
Act as a culture coach, advisor and trusted partner of the leadership teams and the Talent population to provide support and guidance on various management practices and processes
Partner closely with Group HR and subsidiaries teams to make all people processes integrated and consistent to offer best employee experience
Manage the Performance Management process and assist with goals/KPIs development.

Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, required.

Track record in developing and managing culture transformation initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in human resource management/development, business, psychology, sociology, or related fields. Master’s degree preferred but not required.
Minimum 7 years human capital/talent management /culture transformation experience in a progressive and multi-cultural environment
Financial services, and preferably banking experience would be an added advantage
Professional qualification in HR and Membership to a professional association locally or internationally desirable
