Play a pivotal role in formulating and implementing the Legal function’s strategic initiatives.

Monitor and analyze Kenya’s legislative landscape to ensure the organization remains compliant with all applicable legal requirements and operational obligations.

Maintain a comprehensive grasp of regulatory matters and the applicable regulatory framework governing business operations, while assuming accountability for devising well-informed solutions that empower the organization to effectively address and navigate regulatory challenges.

Overseeing litigation initiated by or against the business as directed by the Head of Legal, Kenya, entails developing and implementing effective case strategies to achieve favorable outcomes.

Provide assistance to the Head of Legal, Kenya, in overseeing entity management and maintaining adherence to sound corporate governance standards across our client’s entities within the jurisdiction.

Engage collaboratively in interdepartmental business projects and strategic initiatives, evaluating and overseeing potential risks to mitigate legal exposure and uphold corporate objectives.

Draft, prepare, and finalize contractual agreements while engaging in negotiations to secure favorable terms. Evaluate and revise existing legal documents to enhance clarity and alignment with organizational objectives. Additionally, create and implement standardized contract templates to streamline processes and improve operational efficiency within the Legal department.

Oversee essential administrative functions to guarantee resource availability, maintain an uninterrupted flow of information, and ensure records remain current.

In alignment with the business strategy, enhance the control environment within the Legal department to achieve higher levels of governance and compliance.

To ensure seamless collaboration, facilitate clear and consistent communication between various functions and within the department, enabling all stakeholders to stay informed and work together to resolve shared challenges.

Demonstrates strong leadership qualities with a proven ability to guide and inspire teams toward achieving organizational goals. Possesses an accredited law degree from a respected academic institution, coupled with a proven ability to deliver sound legal counsel to internal stakeholders.

Requires a minimum of three to four years of post-qualification legal experience.

Professionals with 2–3 years of experience in high-pressure law firm environments are strongly preferred.

Demonstrated proficiency in overseeing and coordinating legal disputes and related processes is required.

Proficiency in company secretarial practices and board-related matters, particularly Certified Practicing Secretary (CPSK) qualifications, is strongly preferred.

A comprehensive understanding of pertinent local substantive and procedural laws governing key areas such as Commercial Law, labor regulations, land legislation, factory and manufacturing compliance, and Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) requirements is required.

Proficiency in negotiation, along with exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, is essential.

Proven capability to leverage strategic thinking, analytical acumen, and sound judgment in decision-making processes.

Demonstrates strong independent decision-making, leadership capabilities, and effective collaboration with colleagues and senior leadership teams.
