The Technical Manager will be responsible for executing, managing and overseeing the technical aspects of electrical engineering projects. This role includes leading a team, ensuring the successful execution of projects from design to delivery, and maintaining high technical standards. The Technical Manager will collaborate closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure that all electrical engineering projects meet performance, quality, efficiency and functionality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Electrical Solution Design and Innovation:
Development of bespoke electrical solutions that optimize on material, electrical design and reliability in the long run satisfactorily addressing client needs for the project.
Collaborating with external partners and suppliers to acquire the required materials with the right quality and pricing.
Keeping abreast with emerging technologies and innovations in the electrical solutions industry and applying the same in day-to-day operations.
Providing technical direction and oversight on complex electrical engineering problems and projects.
Ensuring that projects adhere to safety regulations, quality standards, and compliance requirements.
Evaluating and improving current engineering processes to increase efficiency and productivity.
Developing and/or reviewing and approving electrical designs, specifications, and technical drawings.
Ensuring proper documentation of design processes, project progress, and reports.
Performing quality control checks on completed designs and installations to ensure they meet the required specifications and industry standards.
Client Engagement and Stakeholder Management
Act as the primary technical point of contact for clients and stakeholders.
Collaborate with clients to understand project requirements and provide technical solutions.
Manage relationships with suppliers, contractors, and consultants to ensure successful project delivery.
Support in the sourcing, acquisition and bidding process for new projects for implementation.
Risk Management and Problem Solving:
Identify potential technical risks within projects and develop mitigation strategies.
Troubleshoot technical issues as they arise, ensuring timely resolution to minimize disruptions.
Implement risk management protocols to ensure compliance with safety and industry regulations.
Budget and Resource Allocation:
Manage project budgets, including material, equipment, and labor costs.
Allocate resources efficiently to optimize project performance and ensure cost-effectiveness.
Work with procurement teams to source and acquire necessary project materials.
Team Leadership and Development:
Lead and manage a team of site workers, electrical engineers and technical staff.
Mentor and provide technical guidance to the engineering team.
Oversee staff development through training, performance evaluations, and career growth initiatives.
Project Management:
Oversee the planning, design, and execution of electrical engineering projects from inception to completion.
Ensure that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
Coordinate with other departments and clients to ensure project milestones and objectives are achieved.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. Master’s degree in a related engineering field is a plus.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in electrical engineering, with at least 2 years in a project management role.
Experience in tendering and offer management is a plus
Proven experience in leading and managing engineering teams.
In-depth knowledge of electrical engineering principles, design standards, and industry regulations.
Proficient in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, ETAP).
Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
