The GEDSI (Gender equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion) Coordinator will take the lead in implementing the project’s gender mainstreaming plan, ensuring the project meets standard GEDSI thresholds, while being an integral link to the indigenous peoples and local communities with whom the project works closely with.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaborating with the Monitoring & Evaluation Officer on monitoring and reporting on Climate ARK activities. This may include engaging with consortium partners and facilitating sessions on GEDSI.
Identifying GEDSI-related partnerships/relationships working in the REDD+, GEDSI, and justice spaces, particularly those engaging in promoting women’s leadership and visibility. This will include sharing lessons learned across different contexts and identifying areas for collaboration. A feature of this task may include identifying service providers who are able to deliver GEDSI-related training to the ClimateARK consortium or beyond.
Prepare comprehensive reports on GEDSI activities, outcomes, and best practices, contributing to project reporting, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement efforts.
As required, contributing, and/or reviewing Cis and/or ClimateARKs gender mainstreaming plan, Indigenous Peoples’ Participation Plan; quarterly reports; program-produced learning and communications materials; program deliverables and program policies and procedures, ensuring that all these documents adequately identify, incorporate, and/or promote GEDSI messaging and/or activities.
Engaging with CI staff, including operations staff and management, to ensure that Conservation International induction/orientation/training processes for staff incorporate sessions on GEDSI, reflecting the Kenyan context. In addition, as required, work with CI operations staff to, review, modify, design, and/or support the implementation of processes, practices, and tools to help guide more gender-equitable and disability-cognizant human resource policies and practices
Support program teams in the development and delivery of training and capacity building on key gender topics to beneficiaries.
Work closely with the M&E team to ensure sex and age-disaggregated data is collected, and that gender analysis is applied and used to adaptively manage program implementation including IEC material that would communicate GEDSI effectively and ensure their accessibility through consistent promotion of their usage within the organization and project team.
Conduct regular monitoring and evaluation of GEDSI outcomes to assess progress and impact and recommend adjustments as needed.
Provide the link between the Climate ARK project and the Ips and LCs in the project, specifically in relation to REDD+ and nature-based solutions implementations.

Normal office environment with domestic travel
This position follows a hybrid work structure, working some days from the office and some remotely. Guidance will be shared during the interview process.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
2 to 4 years of experience.
The fellow should self-identify as from an Indigenous community.
Lead the development and implementation of GEDSI-specific tools, guidelines, and training materials to support the effective integration of gender equality, disability, and social inclusion in all project activities
Proven experience in designing, implementing, and monitoring GEDSI strategies and action plans in development settings.
Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to establish and maintain relationships with senior government officials and partners.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to articulate complex GEDSI concepts clearly and effectively to a varied audience with a Strong capacity to produce compelling written and verbal communications, ensuring clarity, conciseness, and influence.
Competence in managing complex, multi-stakeholder relationships and maintaining high standards of professional integrity.
Ability to effectively communicate GEDSI-related aspects of technical investment and development projects in a clear, accessible manner, ensuring that non-expert stakeholders understand the importance of inclusive and gender-responsive approaches
Ability to work as an integral member of a team, operating seamlessly across organizational boundaries and maintaining a proactive, positive, and results-driven approach in dynamic environments.
