Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, one must have: –

A Master’s degree qualification in Medical Bacteriology or Clinical Chemistry from an accredited and recognized University;
A Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Sciences from an accredited and recognized University;
Three (3) year teaching experience at the University level or in research or in industry;
Be registered for a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or equivalent Doctoral degree qualification;
Be a registered member of the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technologist and Technicians Board;
Must have current, valid License from Technicians Board;

Duties and Responsibilities for Assistant Lecturers

Teach and assess courses in one’s discipline at undergraduate level;
Supervise undergraduate student’s projects and other experiential learning programme;
Assist in developing/review of undergraduate courses;
Initiate, promote and participate in research projects;
Participate in academic leadership programmes;
Provide professional and community services, initiate strategic training and research partnership and initiate linkages, and undertake fundraising for the university; and
Carry out administrative and such other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.
