The Chef plays a crucial role in the delivery of the Embassy of Ireland’s objectives. The position is busy and highly rewarding, with a requirement for high quality and distinctive catering, combining flexibility and flair.
Roles and Responsibilities:
The precise range of duties will vary over time according to the needs of the Embassy, but will include the following:
Planning, preparation and delivery of menus for official and private functions at the Residence and Embassy, as appropriate.
Designing creative and innovative menus for official functions and events, which reflect
Ireland’s food heritage and culture, and cater for guests’ dietary requirements.
Responsibility for the running of the kitchen including stock management, budgeting and planning for small, medium and large scale events, with a view to minimising waste and delivering value for money.
Ensure full compliance with professional health and safety, and food hygiene standards.
Monitoring of and accounting for all expenditure within set budget guidelines.
Essential Requirements candidates must be able to demonstrate:
Excellent communication skills in English;
Candidates must have a diploma in culinary arts, or a similar qualification;
At least five years of high-level culinary experience, either in a diplomatic residence, hotel or a high-level restaurant setting;
Availability for flexible working hours depending on event requirements;
Excellent organisational, planning and problem-solving skills;
Experience in managing financial budgets and resources;
A flexible attitude, good judgement and the ability to work effectively as part of a team;
