Responsibilities

The individual will be responsible for devising, implementing, and managing the website’s strategic direction, ensuring its ongoing development and reliable maintenance to meet business objectives and user needs.

Develop and execute an innovative web communication strategy for the corporate website(s), affiliated sites and pages, and the Knowledge Repository to guarantee alignment with the organization’s mandate, strategic goals, and brand identity.

Oversee the design, upkeep, and optimization of the organization’s Drupal and Space web platforms, guaranteeing their operational reliability, usability, and technical performance while maintaining seamless interoperability and integration.

Establish compatibility and technical benchmarks to guarantee that UNEP web platforms remain accessible to all users, irrespective of language preferences.

Experts in the field will provide leadership and direction to web developers, designers, and service providers, ensuring the effective execution of technical solutions and enhancements across web platforms and the Knowledge Repository.

Deliver technical assistance to internal stakeholders and end-users concerning the functionality, navigation, and content management system usage of the website and Knowledge Repository.

Troubleshoot technical issues, bugs, and errors to maintain seamless functionality and reliability of the web platforms and Knowledge Repository for UNEP.

Work closely with internal IT support teams and external vendors to resolve intricate technical issues, determine necessary services and subscriptions, and ensure seamless deployment of new applications.

Business analysis and quality assurance are essential functions for evaluating processes, identifying areas for improvement, and ensuring compliance with established standards. This involves systematically analyzing data, documenting findings, and proposing solutions to enhance operational efficiency and product quality. Collaborate effectively with graphic designers, UX/UI specialists, and content creators to ensure consistent visual identity, optimal usability, and strong branding throughout the website.

Offer expert-led training sessions for team members, content creators, and website visitors, focusing on content management excellence, effective CMS utilization, adherence to website protocols, and utilization of templates. The objective is to foster a deeper understanding of how digital platforms contribute to improved user engagement and the expansion of UNEP’s audience reach.

Develop and oversee the implementation of comprehensive content strategies and ensure consistent management of content initiatives to align with organizational objectives.

Develop and execute a robust web content strategy that aligns with organizational goals and resonates with the intended audience across web platforms and the Knowledge Repository. Establish a streamlined workflow and content management system, overseeing the coordinated execution of page and feature development, as well as editing and translation processes.

The role requires a keen analytical mindset to interpret data trends, diagnose root causes of performance bottlenecks, and recommend scalable solutions that align with organizational objectives.

Develop a comprehensive measurement framework to evaluate the effectiveness of web platforms, the Knowledge Repository, individual web pages, and marketing campaigns, while also managing ongoing monitoring and performance reporting.

Track and analyze key performance indicators for the web platform—including traffic patterns, user engagement levels, and conversion rates—leveraging advanced analytics tools to derive actionable insights.

Conduct in-depth data analysis to uncover key trends, pinpoint opportunities for improvement, and enhance user experience, while simultaneously increasing traffic and driving measurable business outcomes.

Responsible for managing the reporting process, delivering performance insights on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, as well as for specific campaigns.

The position involves gathering and evaluating data to detect trends or patterns, subsequently delivering insights through visual representations such as graphs, charts, tables, and reports via data visualization techniques. We seek a candidate with a strong educational foundation, ideally holding a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, though advanced degrees are preferred for specialized roles. Professional certifications or ongoing education in the industry are highly valued. Proficiency in overseeing library or knowledge platforms, particularly with the technical administration of repository software like Space, is essential.

A minimum of two years of proven leadership experience in leading a cross-functional team is essential, encompassing responsibilities such as strategic planning, performance oversight, and ensuring the timely delivery of results.
