This role involves comprehensive oversight of the entire order fulfillment process, including evaluating proposals, securing favorable pricing through negotiation, identifying optimal suppliers, monitoring market trends, tracking order progress, confirming timely delivery, authorizing payments, and maintaining accurate documentation.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to oversee a range of critical tasks, including the management of daily operations, ensuring adherence to compliance standards, and fostering collaboration across departments. The role demands meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational abilities, and the capacity to prioritize effectively under pressure. Additionally, the position requires proactive problem-solving, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Responsibilities extend to coordinating projects, monitoring performance metrics, and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and productivity. The ideal candidate must demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and adaptability in a dynamic work environment.

Oversee the procurement and logistics processes for all approved engineering and maintenance parts and equipment as required.

Act as a liaison with engineering stores to ensure the prompt and high-quality procurement of spares and consumables, thereby maintaining optimal reorder levels and adhering to lead time requirements for all stock items. This involves evaluating part consumption rates, assessing delivery terms, and accounting for clearance durations to support efficient inventory management.

Coordinate the processing and shipment of spare parts for domestic and international orders, providing timely updates to the plant engineer to ensure operational continuity.

Work collaboratively with engineering vendors to address and resolve inquiries or issues concerning deliveries, payments, shipping, procurement, and standards, providing guidance to the plant engineer as required.

Ensure all domestic and international orders are delivered safely and appropriately through follow-up actions.

Duly approved purchase requisitions, bearing the signature of the plant engineer, are received from the chief storekeeper, followed by the procurement of quotations or pro forma invoices.

Prepare petty cash advance vouchers, obtaining approval from the plant engineer, to facilitate cash purchases of urgent items, and perform reconciliation and tallying as required.

Ensure timely follow-ups with suppliers and contractors regarding checks and advance payments post-delivery or job completion, adhering to their specified terms while fostering strong, collaborative relationships.

Ensure the engineering department’s procurement activities remain within allocated budgets and estimates, coordinating directly with your supervisor to maintain financial alignment.

Ensure prompt availability of required parts and equipment, actively contributing to downtime reduction by responding swiftly whenever necessary.

Play an integral role in driving the company and engineering department toward the successful attainment of established targets.

Prepare annual, quarterly, monthly, semi-annual, and weekly procurement plans for submission to the plant engineer.

Seeking a candidate with a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and a minimum of three years of professional experience in a comparable role. The ideal applicant will demonstrate strong analytical skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in industry-standard software and tools, along with excellent communication and problem-solving capabilities, is essential. Prior experience in project management or leadership is highly desirable, as is a proven track record of delivering measurable results. The position requires adherence to company policies, ethical standards, and a commitment to continuous professional development.

A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is required.

A diploma in Purchasing & Supplies Management or a professional CAPS qualification is highly advantageous.

Seasoned professionals with a background in procurement for manufacturing environments are encouraged to apply.
