KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Support for the day to day activities for the team to assure accurate and timely execution of all transactions including handling customer instructions, customer queries, transaction confirmation process (observing zero tolerance on unmatched confirmations) , managing settlement process and related risks, appropriate Transaction Processing & Messaging Systems and related accounting entries processing, reporting , communications to other parties and reconciliation activities for all products and services offered under Treasury Operations. This is should be delivered in-line with set SLAs, policies, procedures, processes, operating instructions, standards, regulations; statutory, market requirements and international regulations while observing operational risk requirements in the various transactions under the products and services as below:-
Inward and outward remittances
Foreign Exchange cash, spot, swaps and forwards etc.
Money Market
Fixed Income
Nostro Transfer
General Ledgers postings
Confirmations – observing zero tolerance on unmatched confirmations.
Static data set-up within the treasury system and MTS systems.
Requisite transaction related documentations and Swift messages queries management for Treasury related transactions.
Nostro related investigations and failed trades reporting for Treasury related transactions.
Primary market bank bids and related CDS, commissions and settlement processes.
Trade Operations
Clearing and salary processing
Ensure efficient operations in strict compliance with the various local and international laws, market set standards and Bank’s risk standards while ensuring continuous improvements to lean the current processes in team and manage costs downwards and effective risk management to protect the Clients’ and Bank’s interests.
Compliance to operational risk management, periodic self-assessment on key controls to assess the proper functioning and adequacy of existing controls and highlighting issues discovered and follow through plans to mitigate the risks. Participate in Operational Risk activities within the Unit as well as deliver Control Self Assessments, assure of current and accurate Risk and Loss registers.
Ensure that the BCP/ DRP documentation, technologies and operations are functioning as recommended by the CBK Prudential guidelines and best practices.
Strive for stability of the treasury system – issues and or complaints from internal and external customers are logged appropriately, reported, escalated and followed to resolution within agreed SLAs, prompt responses provided and where necessarily get the Root Cause Analysis provided to ensure excellent services to the users and update the status on systems stability report daily. Work with the transaction processing system vendors and ICT team to close system failures and gaps to build effective, efficient and well controlled processing processes and models.
Assure of effective daily TP-GL reconciliation, SLA adherence monitoring & breaches reporting, adhere to checks and controls, related documents storage, leave management plan , accurate current & timely Dashboards production , MIS for BAU and or projects /initiatives and reporting including customer valuation reports, delivering on other division-wide initiatives and meetings/committees, adhering to department’s service charter & catalogue, Operating Instructions, Processes flows and Procedures documented and participating in other projects within the team.
Support Claims investigations and management, broker list compliance, brokerage processing and tracking for treasury related transactions.
Comply with ALL Bank’s set policies, procedures & guidelines as well as other regulations and standards and in the Anti- Money Laundering and Know your customer Policy and or procedures to the extent applicable and reporting all suspicious activities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED FOR THE JOB)
Education
A University Degree in Computer science /Engineering, Finance, Accounting, Commerce or related field from a recognized University
Knowledge and Experience
5 years working experience in Bank operations, within a busy Financial Markets Operations environment.
In depth knowledge and understanding of financial markets Operations with the ability to structure and deliver efficient solutions to the interbank and corporate customers needs
Good understanding of Operational Risk Management
Proficiency in use of information technology, Analytical ability and problem identification skills.
Independent, objective and Self-motivated and can work with minimal supervision.
Excellent communication (both written and oral), presentation, interpersonal, negotiation and report writing skills.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE (PREFERRED, NOT A REQUIREMENT)
In depth knowledge and understanding of Financial Markets products: Foreign Exchange (cash, spot, forward, swaps), Money Markets and Fixed Income (Borrowing, Lending, REPOs and Reverse REPOs, ILFs, Treasury Bills, Term Deposits, Sale and Buy of Bonds in both Primary and Secondary Markets; the respective required documentations to make legally binding to both parties, the inherent risks and controls required during each transaction’s life cycle to enable settlement on value date.
In-depth knowledge in swift message types, controls, best practices, and standards.
In depth knowledge of Money Transfer Services and related processes; Western Union and Money Gram.
